Issues obtaining CENOMAR for interview

My wife got her case complete from the NVC a couple weeks ago. We are just waiting for my step son's case complete then hopefully an interview will be scheduled. In the mean time my wife is working on gathering documents she will need for the interview. Last week she went to the mall and tried to get her CENOMAR (the one that says she is married). She applied for it with her maiden name (her friend who just immigrated to the US told her to do it this way). Yesterday she got a text message that they couldn't find any records under her name. She went back yesterday and applied using her married name. I am pretty sure she was supposed to use her maiden name but could be wrong. What should we do if they can't find any records under her name? Her friend suggested she goes directly to the National Statistics Office as the office at the mall might have had computer issues. What do you guys think?

Use her (maiden) name as shown on the marriage certificate.

Did you check your NSO MC if her name has a typo error?
