I admit I'm getting a little carried away. He is entertaining. I apologize. I just find it sad when it's possible to have a mature serious discussion about things and other people just post videos or memes or stuff like that.

I could no resist the left ditch wreck and Irony in the same Meme.

Yours is actually okay given the circumstances. The thread already derailed :) Prior though I thought we were actually having a half-way decent discussion. I conceded some points.

The Muddy Ditch left and Muddy Ditch right

Ah, I'd like to think I stick to the road and try to very off either side.

I voted for Hillary, but I wasn't too excited for it. I would have been more excited to vote for Sanders, but even that I doubt he could have done most of the things he said he wanted to do. I don't think we had a decent shot at flipping the legislature and that is what really matters in my opinion. I dislike our system where you can have a President in one party, and a legislature in the other and they just work to cancel each other out. I get the point of "checks and balances" but I think in reality that just causes stagnation.

I recognize that Trump's victory puts our country in the best place for "change" to be made since Republicans now control both. However, I don't personally believe it will be change in the direction I believe in. I am socially liberal (and generally fiscally liberal as well). I'm in the upper 10% of the country (Grew up in the 1%) but I believe strongly in the idea that a country should support its citizens. I think our tax code is messed up, but I think taxes are very important and would gladly pay more (as long as it was actually utilized well). I think we should work towards universal healthcare because I think private insurance is a system that just doesn't work when dealing with the health and well being of our citizens. People shouldn't be making money off of it as much as they are. This is coming from a doctor, and I know I would take a huge pay cut to work in a public health system (NHS-style). I also recognize that those systems aren't perfect either, but to me I think the best "starting point" is to provide healthcare for all, and then work on making it more efficient or better from there.

I'm a white straight male who is married and will be starting a family soon. For me personally I won't be affected by changes in policy towards LGBQT, Immigrants (My wife will be an immigrant, but from the UK and so won't be stereotyped since she is white and a legal immigrant), Abortion rights. That being said, I believe strongly in more freedoms for those involved (Meaning LGBQT should be able to do what they want, including using any restroom, women should have the right to choose etc...). I guess the only "freedom" I don't believe that strongly in is gun rights. I'm a Pediatrician and the data out there about safety of guns in the home with children (lack of safety) is concerning enough to me to say I would rather it not be a thing. Realistically I don't think we'll get them completely out of the home, and I guess I'm "okay" with that though I will never myself own one and strongly believe it would do nothing to help protect me. I also have mixed feelings about the environment. I don't doubt climate change at all, but I also would never sit out on a kayak protesting an Oil company drilling because I think that gets us no where. We can't ignore our current energy needs and I think they need to continue to be invested in while also working towards renewable energies. My wife is also in the Petroleum industry which influences my thoughts about that topic.

In general I try my best to not get "dramatic" about anything, in either direction. For me my major problem with Trump is I feel like he either means everything he said during the campaign trail and is a very bad person, or he didn't mean it and was lying. Both of those are bad in my opinion. I didn't vote for him on the off chance that he really meant what he said (since I don't agree with what he said). I guess at this point I hope he was the latter and was mostly lying (though that wouldn't speak highly of his character, but i'm okay with a President that has a bad character. I think we would have had that if Clinton was elected).

Is that enough self-identification? I could go on.

I guess the one thing I didn't comment on was the economy. I think there is far too little out there about Trump wants to do so I'll have to wait and see. I don't think he is as good of a businessman as HE thinks he is, but I also think he is a better one than most Clinton supporters think. Somewhere in the middle. Maybe he'll do well and that will translate into a boost in the economy, we'll see. I'm open to that. However I couldn't vote for him because of the economy, since his social stances weren't things I believe in and again I would rather personally take a hit (like pay more taxes, have my investments suffer) to protect important issues that influence people's personal lives (My friends who are gay who are happily married, a 16 year old patient who makes a mistake and gets pregnant and knows following through with that will ruin her life, a transgender girl or boy who feels inferior because they can't use the restroom that they think they belong in etc...). I know none of those things affect me personally, but even if I don't know people in the category I think it is important.

Oh and religion, another big topic. I don't really have a preference. I was married in a church (CoE), went to private Catholic school, but only go for Christmas/Easter basically (and last year I didn't go to Christmas service because it was really cold outside...). I believe in religious freedom (believe what you want), but I also don't buy that "religious freedom" argument that is used to limit other people's freedom. If someone's religion tells them that gay people shouldn't be married then that's fine. If they are gay then they shouldn't be married. However, true "freedom" means respecting that if other people don't believe that, and marriage is important to them, then they should be able to do it. You can apply that to other topics (Abortion etc...). On abortion specifically I let my knowledge and experience as a physician influence how I define "life"and I believe that people should make individual choices on that.

You really SHOULD watch some of them. I admit they are done in jest, but if you pay attention, you can read between the lines and realize just how much she screwed up and thought she could get away with. OJ got nothing on ole Hillary!!

Deeper and deeper you go. You're adorable. (You realize I'm not even clicking on these things right?). I want to squeeze your little cherub-like cheek. Honestly though I should be calling your parents.

I find it ironic... A couple of years ago, we had a discussion, and it was decided among all the pros here on human rights that calling someone the 5-letter Q word was disrespectful and obtuse at best. Today, the term is LGBQT. See how far we have come! I think the mods should remove it from the banned words list, it is an "in" term nowadays.
