I-485 Part 3 C.1.b. Court Record Question?

Dear All,

I'm new to this website. Thank you in advance for your help!

My brief background:

I'm a F-1 Visa student. I've been to U.S for 9 years. My wife (U.S citizen) and I got married in July, 2016. We are currently preparing for I-130 and I-485 fillings.

My problem:

Unfortunately, I had an arrest record (one and the only record) from October 2010. It was a misdemeanor, Penal Code 647(f) PC; California law on "Drunk in Public" Intoxication.

It took place during the Halloween parade at my college community area. I was arrested for being too drunk on the street. F.Y.I- (There are around 200 students arrested for the same charge almost every year during the Halloween parade at my college community.) It was at night time and the police took me to the county jail for a few hours to sober up then my friend picked me up in the morning. I went to court a couple weeks later and I was punished with a fine of $500. (No other additional punishment)

I'm filling I-485 and I understand I need to fully disclose the incident under Part 3 C.1.b..

My question:

How to properly filling for it? Does the court record need to be certified? Are there any other documents required?

What kind of potential impact could I take regarding to my Green Card application?

Thank you again for your kind help and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best regards

go to the county court house and ask for a certified copy of the court records. then getc a print out of which statute you ran a foul of, make sure it is from an official california website (something.ca.gov) and cite the Web is yet correctly. then write a statement in your own words of what happened, don't forget to sign the statement.

good luck

Hi f f,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have a follow-up question for you.

Do I need to include my statement and the legal exposition, such as from this following website (https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=647.&lawCode=PEN)

in a single page or separate two pages. Thanks!
