Police Clearance (Certificate of Good Conduct) in UAE now required?!??

I thought it was bad enough dealing with two bloated disorganized governments (Philippines and US). Throw a third one in the mix and I might lose what little sanity I have left here. I hope the US government sees how difficult it would be to get the certificate and keeps their policies the same.

It's the policy and a good at that to vent each visa to insure we are getting potentially good citizens to USA. The problem exist because of some of the countries who make it difficult with there requirements or the ability to process online. Some, even though we are in the 21st century, can't even take fees from online applicants.

But I hear your frustrations and understand them.

Ya the foreign police clearance BS can be quite annoying, with lots of hoops to jump through, and some countries have more hoops than others.

There are hoops and then there are hoops. But we have to play by the man you has the gold. We look back and say when it's all done that at times it was difficult to understand the process and sometimes we found it expensive to boot. But in the end we have each other and you can't deny happiness and love when a couple is determined.

Explain your predicament to your CO at the interview. According to DOS website and I quote "Police/Prison Records Available to Syrian citizens residing in Syria, but may be unavailable to citizens living outside the country." As noted by Greenbaum, police certificate can only be obtained in person, thus the embassy waiver that requirement

Just in case, print out a copy of this for your interview. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/SY.html

ok - so a while ago - I generically emailed the embassy asking them this SPECIFICALLY about the Police Certificate from UAE. They replied with this garbage:

Dear Mr. BOB SMITH (changed):

To enable us to be more responsive to your inquiry, we request you to provide the complete name of the applicant and the petitioner, the dates and places of birth, and the 10-digit case number or the 13-character U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) receipt number.

We understand that you are in the process of obtaining a police clearance from Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

You may visit our website at https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/QA.html for specific instructions on how to obtain the police clearance from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A police certificate from UAE is generally obtainable and the Embassy has received UAE police clearances for other applicants.

So they sent me the link for QATAR - if you see the "QA" at the end of the link - its QATAR - NOT UAE like we asked.

I checked the link and QATAR does allow for you to obtain by mail... however when going to the country for UAE - it says to "RECOMMEND TO WAIVE THIS due to it requiring you to be present"

So Im going to listen to the moderators and other posters of this forum and assume this guy was incorrect and it was a mistake when he sent me the link for QATAR instead of UAE. UAE and QATAR are not the same.

I just replied above this post....

Please let me know if you have any questions still.

Also - please come back on and report if they are still asking for any Police clearances. I read on a couple of posts today where someone said they were only asked for cenomar and birth certificate.

UAE is a waiver country also, can only obtain the police clearance in person https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/AE.html

As I suggested to another earlier, print this page out for the interview.. just in case the CO is not up to speed.
