WOULD YOU PAY $ TO EXPEDITE YOUR PETITION?

As I said in the poll topic on the same subject (and notwithstanding the response there) creating an expedited processing option for family cases can't be done because it would entail the federal government instituting a program of benefit tied directly to financial status, which would be struck down under the terms of the 14th amendment of the constitution.

When premium processing was first being discussed, it was intended for work visas but the same question was asked - why not do it for K-1 and CR/IR visas too (there was no K-3 at that time) - and the answer was that it could not due to the constitutionality of it.

It's a fine notion that if it WERE possible the extra money would help hire more adjudicators, but in truth it wouldn't for two reasons. Firstly, it's already hard enough to get suitable applicants, and it takes months and months to train them and get them working, by which time staff turnover has caused the numbers to drop again, and secondly, since the revenue stream isn't known, it can't be budgeted, thus staffing can't really be based on it, unless they were to hire on contract, which wouldn't lead to more adjudicators.

Thus the result of premium processing would be to slow the system for those who didn't pay while it speeded it for those who did.

As much as I like to complain about not being served by the VSC, I'm actually glad that it's going to take 3 months (no more, no less would be ideal!) to get my NOA2 from California. I'm going to start my first real, full-time job in mid-April. If I had sent my petition to VSC, I probably would already have my NOA2 and be freaking out because I have no pay stubs to collect for the affidavit.

But if I was already a good sponsor, of course I would pay money to make the process go faster!
