Hey all,

New to the forum, and loving the advice so far! I am almost done with the I-129f, and ready to submit everything. I am just waiting on my fiancés pictures, and docs to get here by snail mail from Canada. She got them out within a couple of days, but the post takes forever!

Anyway, we have a couple questions that I haven't been able to find the answer to yet, so I figured why not ask here, as there is a lot if information contained in all of your experiences.

The first question is do I really have to send the paperwork to texas!? There are centers closer to me, like down in Los Angeles...or is Texas like a visa clearing house where they then get shipped out to where they need to go?

Second question is with the k-1 visa, does the 90 day time line begin when/if the visa is issued, or does it begin when you cross the border? So for example the visa is approved for my fiancé, but we want to make sure the wedding date is in the middle of the 90 days, so she waits to come down until then...or does she have to come to down immediately?

Thanks in advance guys!

Sorry, forgot to put in the third question! Just ast the beginning of this year, the us consulate in Vancouver quit doing the k1 visas and moved everything over to Montreal. This will be hugely inconvenient and costly for my fiancé when it comes time for the interview. These is a facility in Seattle, which is only a three hour drive from her. Do they let you schedule interviews in other places like Seattle, or will she be stuck with the expense and time of traveling to Montreal for the interview?

Thanks again.

Yes all petitons get sent to the lockbox in Lewisville Texas, then they will send it to the appropriate service center.

The K-1 is good for 6 months from the completion of the medical...The 90 days begins when you fiance enters the US using the K-1 visa.

And I am not sure but think she can do the medical in Vancouver but the interview in Montreal... not sure on that one some other Canadian K-1'ers hopefully have that answer fo royu.

Good luck!

Thank you for the information it's very helpful. I appreciate the replies! Part of my question about when the Visa goes into effect is if she wants to come visit me before to use as the Visa and the bees that has already been issued does the Visa takes effect when she crosses the Border or can't you come visit me and say I'm not invoking my Visa yet. That's what she's worried about so if we get the visa issued and it's like three months before the marriage and she can't come visit me because she can't come in without invoking the Visa. Is it something that she can use when she chooses to or doesn't take effect the moment she crosses the Border?
