I also am applying and wonder of your experience.

They did give us the waiver.  We did have a long wait to hear back; a little over a month.  My understanding is that they have 30 days to acknowledge receipt of the petition, and when a fee waiver is requested they tend to take all of it.  Others have told me that if you file close to the deadline you won't miss it due to being denied, rather they accept the original filing as evidence of being within the time frame.

Good luck.

I was researching this and saw your post. Can you tell me your timeline in regards the approval of the fee waiver and then the continuing I-751? I was hoping to see how the fee waiver affects the timing of the NOA1 of the I-751. Thanks.

Nothing! It doesn't affect NOA. I am a living witness. Like I said, show the evidence, you WILL get approved

I sent the 751 with the 912 request for fee waiver on Monday August 7, priority mail with no signature required. Today is Wednesday August 16. I haven't heard a thing. No NOA1 or anything. I'm wondering too on how long it takes for them to get through the 912 fee waiver before they proceed. I waited til late to send the package because we really tried to come up with the money for the fee. I'm worried now that we won't hear anything in time before his conditional green card expires which is in 3 weeks from now. Does anyone have any insight? Like how long did it take to get an NOA1 or RFE or even denial of request for fee waiver?

I think as you can see from Dawning's post above that it can take about a month to get the NOA1 letter but that they date it back to the date of receipt. She also says that she has heard that a denial does not put into jeapordy the 751 filing as they take into account the original filing with the fee waiver that has been denied. The only problem I can see is if there would be something wrong with the 751 petition and it was rejected because that would cause you to resubmit with a new receipt date which would be the NOA1 date. Hope that allays your worries. Good luck!

We got it today!! 😀😀 2 weeks exactly from the day I mailed it. Incredible! I'm only a bit confused about the letter. It states the fee has been waived and the letter is to show the one year extension from the expiration on the conditional GC.

So..... does that mean his I-751 has also been approved? It also states that we can start tracking the process when we get the biometric appointment letter.

As above says, not approved, but yes, accepted. You have now started the process of ROC. Congrats!

I added to this post last year but my process was stopped due to an error by USCIS in dating the orginal green card. All that aside, we resubmitted according to the proper dates this June 2018 and I wanted to add my experience with the fee waiver. It seems to have gone very smooth. We sent I-751 on 2 June, delivered 4 Jun, marked received 5 Jun and NOA date 15 Jun with fee waived. So if you meet the eligibility for the fee waiver send it.

An old thread but in the same ship as yours.. Applied I-751 with I-912. Could you tell me how long it took for you to get the NOA from the date of filing ? Thanks.
