My husband's AOS is pending (since early May) but since the election I have thought about leaving and starting over in another country. That would probably be foolish at this point, I realize, so does anyone know if we could potentially leave for a few months and come back for a few months until the AOS is done? Or would that risk him being denied reentry? What exactly are the rules about leaving? He has AP-

I realize I would probably miss the bigotry, high taxes, low quality food and horrible weather, but still can't help thinking about going for as long as possible.

I don't see how the election changes any of that.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Maybe you need to move to a more favorable climate state. I don' think you have anything to worry about from the election. I hear California is thinking about leaving the country. :) I do however think that leaving for a few months and coming back before AOS is probably not a good idea. I would stick it out until the AOS is complete.

The purpose for obtaining a GC is to reside in the US. If you do not want to reside in the US, do not pursue obtaining a GC.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

If you have an AP already in hand then you can leave... if you dont have an AP then you will most likely be denied on reentry... as for the length of period you can leave for im unsure of that but I do believe you can be gone aslong as you AP is valid now I don't think that's advisable cause if you get an interview then they may question why you were gone for so long... Since you filed early may I would just wait it out until the GC because you are so close to the end of the AOS journey.... your interview date or approval letter may come in the mail anyday now and it would be foolish to leave with intention to leave fora few months and a week after you leave you get the interview letter in and having to come back just a few weeks later... in my opinion that's a waste of money
