so as other people have reported before, I just lost my job of 7 years on Wednesday.

However, Two days before I was let go, I got an employment letter with all the required information. Plus I'm getting severance through the beginning of January, I can show 300K dollars in assets and real estate value.

Should I turn in my sponsor form as if I'm still employed? Do they call employers and check?

I don't want to ask my parents to sponsor. They are retired.

The interview is in Moscow. We haven't set it up yet but I assume it will be later this month or December.

Ok, then i'll be more specific.

Do I need a sponsor now when I can shows steady employment and well over 300K dollars in assets?

I don't want to turn to my retired parents. They wont want to show their finances.

Depends on your assets, are they easily liquefiable? Is one of them your main residence?

If you are like me and want to enjoy unemployment benefits for a while (OK, I have never had the opportunity), but still want to proceed with the interview, then I would do the 134 with the unemployment benefit and then a cover level describing the severance package, your work history, your employment prospects, and, if everything else in the petition is OK but they need a stronger 134, then place you in AP until you come back with documentation for your next job.

If it were me, I would go hang with my SO for a while, get an interview extension, go back and find a job, then do the new 134. Of course, weather here sucks right now. Can you afford Egypt? Try AirBnB for Egypt and make a deal for a long term stay.

One is my main residence.

But the cash is mutual funds and retirement funds. Mutual funds are very easy to cash out on.

Main residence most likely won't suffice, even though the instructions state otherwise.

However if you have enough in your other funds to be 3x the amount you'd need if it was income, it should technically do.

Worse case scenario is that Moscow comes back at you with a request to get a joint sponsor or a job. It isn't the end of the world.
