I don't agree, but have it your way, y'all. You seem to feel very strongly about it.

Hmm well this is VJ. Everyone is free to have their own opinion. No one is restricted or otherwise limited from offering theirs. What is it that you disagree with? And more importantly why? For the record I stand by my comments. If needed I can provide sources and links to back up my statements as I take the position that my comments are based in policy and current laws/ board of appeals decisions and not just my strong opinions or interpretations of things.

While VJ is not a legal site and I am not an attny- it is a trusted source of information for countless people, so it is important that the info provided is accurate. If there is something you know that I dont, or something that I have missed or overlooked- please point it out. It helps everyone.

I am in the same situation.

I applied to Remove Conditions in February and have been married to my husband (same-sex marriage) for 3 years already. I filed in Vermont, so we still have not heard anything back.

Last year my husband got into a medical school in the Caribbean and I decided to stay in New York City, where I work and live. I did not want to move to the Caribbean with him because I would have had to interrupt my career (I work in the entertainment industry and there is not much of that in the island where he is staying) and I could have potentially lost my Permanent Resident status by living abroad for two years. So we decided to do a long distance relationship until he can transfer to a US school in 2017. We see each other every time either one of us gets a break and we talk every day on Skype/phone/text. Our financial and emotional lives are extremely intermingled.

When I sent my application I also sent a letter to USCIS explaining our situation. I wanted them to know everything up front because I would rather avoid a situation in which we are called for an interview later on and then we disclose this information and it seems like we were trying to hide it. In our opinion there is nothing wrong with our arrangement and our marriage is real, so we don't want to come off as 'sneaky' or like we have something to hide. We also sent affidavits of our families and friends attesting to the veracity of our relationship and living arrangement.

Just tell the truth. If your marriage is real, then just be straightforward and explain your motives and your particular situation. If you hide things and they find our later on you only create a halo of suspicion around you.
