Hello everyone,

Just received a pink letter for initial evidence request.

Me(Beneficiary) and my partner's (Sponsor) income did not meet the poverty line, so I sent USCIS a statement of my saving account which has $61,000 dollars in it. However USCIS states that the length of my statement is less than 12 month that's why they can't accept it as evidence.

However the letter also states that we can also submit a bond, stocks, and certificate of deposit (cds) as evidence.

So we are thinking about starting a Cds account, and transfer our money from Saving account to the Cds account, and we are going with the 12month maturity date for our Cds account plan, do you guys think they will accept our Cd account as the evidence?

No because you have the same problem. You can't provide evidence that you have held the money for 12 months. By purchasing CDs, you can not prove that you have had the money for the past 12 months.

Here is the problem - people borrowing money and claiming it as their own for the Affidavit of Support, and then returning the money later.

USCIS wants evidence that you held the money long enough that it's yours. USCIS does not care how long you will hold the money for in the future, so the maturity of the CDs does not matter.

Worry more that your partner does not meet the poverty guidelines and immigration is saying he/she can not afford to support you in the future

this says you, the beneficiary has the savings

petitioner is responsible for income

look for a joint sponsor
