Joint Sponsor's Income Tax Return SSN Blacked out

Hi,

My Father-in-law will be my joint sponsor along with my wife (USC), but on his Income Tax Returns he has blacked out some of his social security number with a black marker as he doesn't like having his SSN recorded down. Is this a problem when submitting his tax returns for my application? Do I need him to send me copies without his SSN blacked out?

Across his Income Tax Returns, he has 'CLIENT COPY' or 'DO NOT FILE' printed diagonally across all the pages, I'm assuming it's whoever helps to file his taxes has done this. Again, will this be a problem, or acceptable?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hello there,

I cannot say this with authority but i think the ssn must be visible as in case they decide to do a verification, that would only be possible if they knew the ssn.

The person who sponsors is basically putting himself/herself on the line for the person seeking immigration (in case he ever defaults in the furture etc) and to put the ssn on the firm is the very least that is expected.

Having said that, i think each and ever sponsor does put their ssn on the forms and there are hundreds of such cases so i dont see why there is a risk to any one having put their ssn number on the same.

cheers.

One is supposed to show his gross income for the previous 3 years on the i-864.

If someone has income, there has to be a source.

If nothing else, the bank statement would describe from where the payment has come.

I think you can start with the bank statements clearly showing the income.

Also, if it is veteran pension, he might have some documents showing his eligibility.

overall speaking, i think it would be prudent to have proof of income and also take print out of IRS rule where it says a veteran does not have to pay taxes on his/her pension so that you dont face any issue.

Rgds.
