So my husband is petitioning me for a greencard. He was born in Germany and has a Turkey birth certificate in Turkish. We don't have the original but only a copy. He's a naturalized US citizen since he was 11. For our interview notice, we were asked to bring the petitioner's birth certificate. Do you think it will be an issue that it's only a copy? We are also bringing his naturalization certificate. I know that they are asking for translation of my birth certificate but mine is already in english and he's petitioning me.

He needs his German birth certificate since he was born in Germany.

A Turkish birth certificate for a German birth is not acceptable.

He was born an immigrant in Germany as a Turkish citizen because there is no birthright citizenship

Please don't offer advice when you have no idea what you're talking about

The naturalization certificate should be sufficient, I was not even asked for either one for AOS.

NVC Received : some dinkelsberry yehoo in the house of clingons send our petition to the wrong consulate.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Date : Oct 22, 2014

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

Not something to lose sleep over, take the copy of the Turkish birth certificate. When it comes to the petitioner, the proof of U.S. citizenship is the most important so yes take the naturalization certificate as well. Chances are the officer will not even ask for it there. The focus will be on the marriage bona fides and your eligibility.
