Hello everyone! I created my DS160 and didn't put my middle name which is my mother's maiden name on the given name section. Is it a big deal? What will I do? :(

Yes :/

Go back and change it or start a new one. Print the confirmation page from the bew one and bring that to the interview. Destroy the old confirmation so it's not mistaken for the new one. No harm.

First Name, Middle name, last name. Do not reinvent your name. Best use what is on your BC and passport.

You have two boxes for the DS-160 (no box for middle name as others noted) ; 1st box surname, 2nd box your given name. Your first and middle name are given names

First Name, Middle name, last name. Do not reinvent your name. Best use what is on your BC and passport.

No wheels, no box for middle name either ;)

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

Hello. I did not include my middle name in the DS-160 because I didn't know that it should have been placed in the Given Name box together with my first name. The absence of my middle name in the DS-160 never came up during my interview. In fact, I only found out about it being part of the Given Name here on this thread.

Today, I received my Visa, and my Given Name is shown as "First Name Middle Name."

I am just speculating here as to why it did not become an issue: 1. Most Filipinos, myself included, do not consider our middle names as given names. Because of this, embassy people no longer take it against us and probably automatically update the DS-160 themselves provided that the docs we bring merit the addition of the middle name.

Again, just a speculation.

Good luck.

@Hank and Greenbaum: thank you for all your assistance. ☺

Make sure your browser is the current version.  And if necessary try, yet another, browser.  Also make sure you do not have any AdBlocker apps running on your browser.
