What date is used to calculate the 90 days prior to expiration of the green card for the I-751?

Is it the date we sign the I-751 or the date it is received at the VSC?

The expiry date on your 2 year green card. Count 90 days backward...that's when you can begin filing or use USCIS calculator

Thank you. I did understand that. Our 90 day date will be Nov 19, 2016. So I guess we CANNOT sign the I-751 dated prior to that date. We have not sent it yet, but dated it Nov 17th knowing it would not reach VSC before Nov 19th. I will have to redo those pages before we send it next week.

Why the rush? Knowing that the I-751 will be returned if you file even a day early, just mail it on the 90 day mark. Why take the risk of it arriving early when you just have to wait 2-3 days? Is getting it 2-3 days early worth the potential aggravation? Basic risk vs reward.

There have been plenty of people who have done the same thing that you are contemplating and had their submission sent back because it arrived earlier than they expected.

The date it is recieved can be no more than 90 days before the expiration of your green card. It doesn't matter if you sign it before the 90 days.
