I recently got engaged. My fiance originally came to the states 09/13 for her second masters degree on an F-1 visa. Since graduation she's been staying in the US on an H-1 visa, working here in Boston. Her employer is willing to sponsor her green card, but we've heard stories that it takes 3-4 years sometimes. Now that we're engaged, I see that she can apply for the K-1 visa. I also know that we can apply for a marriage visa later on when we get married.

My question is, regardless of cost, what path is the quickest or most efficient to get her a status that allows her to stay here permanently? We're not really sure which open to take that also doesn't disrupt her permission to work.

Whichever options you suggest, could you please also inform us on the ability to travel internationally during the approval process?

Thank you in advance,

Adam

hi

the k1 visa isn't for her, it's for fiancés who live in their country of origin to be able to enter the country and marry within 90 days. Then file adjustment of status

she is already here legally in the US under the H1B, she isn't in her country in need of entering the US

you would marry when you're ready and no need to rush marriage within 90 days. and you would need to file the same adjustment of status and pay for the same forms, the adjustment of status is the same
