There appears to have been a small spike. Making stuff up appears to be the specialty of sore winners who read much more into the win than is there.

Trump performed roughly the same as the last two Republicans did as far as votes go.

Hillary Clinton lost ten million Democratic voters from Obamas 2008 voter total, Obama lost five million voters in 2012.

This easily explains why Trump won but firm numbers indicating a massive spike in minorities jumping on the Trump bandwagon only exist in the lala land of the Right Wing Echo Chamber.

The numbers I am finding are not showing a spike, no. And they aren't firm numbers at this point, just exit polling, and they don't show any remarkable spike either. See percentages go up when actual numbers go down, so losing 10 million (Obama 2008) causes the percentage of minority voters to rise, not the number of minority voters, the percentage.

The 'spike' if any is tiny, and likely doesn't actually exist.

Obama ten million more votes in 2008 than Clinton did in 2016.

Obama five million more votes than Clinton did in 2016.

No huge bump for Trump.

As explained previously this leads to a statistical spike in women and minority voters for Trump, not a quantitative spike in votes. Unless you just want to go with the World Nut Dailey. And apparently you do.

History is unlikely to call an election win overwhelming when the winner received less votes than the runner up. When searching for adjectives for this election, uninspiring is the likely choice.
