Hi everyone, I feel like I've made a million posts already and I thank everyone for their help so far. My interview for my K-1 visa is in Montreal on November 30th, but I leave for Montreal on the 23rd so I can get my medical etc. I want to make sure I have everything I need and that I've made the proper copies. I think I am getting a bit overwhelmed since the packet 4 letter states to bring originals and copies of some documents, so I want to make sure I have the proper originals and copies that I need. Here is what I have:

  • interview confirmation email
  • copy of my ds-160 confirmation page with the barcode
  • copy of the packet 4 letter (I'm not sure if I need this for the interview?)
  • police record check and a copy of it
  • my passport and a copy of the biographic page
  • I have a short form birth certificate and a long form birth certificate that I just got, I'm bringing both and copies of each
  • original fiance letter of intent for both petitioner and beneficiary (will I need copies of these also?)
  • 2 passport pictures (these were taken on October 13 and it's the same picture I used for my DS-160)

my fiance lives in the US so I'm not sure if this is necessary, but the checklist mentioned it, so for evidence of domicile I have:

  • a copy of his two most recent credit card statements that list his address
  • a copy of my fiances driver's licence and passport
  • a copy of one of my fiances pay stubs

They don't expect originals of these types of documents, correct?

For the evidence of support, my fiances mother is co-sponsering us since we are both fresh out of college and my fiance just got a job, so this is what I have:

  • original i-134 form for my fiance
  • copy of my fiances recent pay stubs
  • letter from my fiances employer stating how much he makes and how long he has worked there
  • co-sponser's original i-134 form
  • copy of co-sponser's 2015 tax returns
  • copy of co-sponser's w-2's from 2014 and 2015
  • copy of 2 recent pay stubs from co-sponser
  • original letter from my co-sponser's employer

for this portion, what copies do I need if any? Also, is it okay to have copies of the pay stubs, w-2's etc. and not have the originals on me?

Then I have our proof of meeting and ongoing relationship. Basically a bunch of pictures, copies of credit card statements and tickets etc. I sorted them based on each trip. They don't expect originals of all of these documents do they?

I'm getting my medical done at medisys so for that I have:

  • immunization records and a record for my recent flu shot
  • copy of the packet 4 email
  • copy of the appointment email
  • 5 passport pictures
  • a copy of my meds from the past year, and the label from my recent prescription

Is there anything important I have forgotten?

or if you don't want to read my wall of text
TLDR; In general what sorts of things do you NEED originals for at the k-1 interview? What documents can be copies? Thanks so much!

  • original fiance letter of intent for both petitioner and beneficiary (will I need copies of these also?) ORIGINAL NEEDED ONLY, MAKE SURE SIGNED WITHIN LAST 30 DAYS BEFORE INTERVIEW DAY
  • 2 passport pictures (these were taken on October 13 and it's the same picture I used for my DS-160)

They don't expect originals of these types of documents, correct? NO. YOU DON'T REALLY NEED ANY OF THEM TO BE HONEST BUT BRING THEM TO BE SAFE.

Then I have our proof of meeting and ongoing relationship. Basically a bunch of pictures, copies of credit card statements and tickets etc. I sorted them based on each trip. They don't expect originals of all of these documents do they? NO. RELATIONSHIP EVIDENCE IS VERY RARELY ASKED FOR

Make sure you bring the email with proof of payment of the interview fee, not just the packet 4 email and the appointment date confirmation emails. I was asked for this.

Sounds like you're very prepared! Best of luck!

Hi There,

When you say I-134 has to be original what exactly does that mean?

My fiancé had signed and dated it and sent me a scanned copy. Is that not okay?

Does it need to be the exact document he signed?

Yes you need the original signature not a scanned printout. Thats a copy not original.
