Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is a possible request, but I figured I'll ask. I want to request for a change in embassy for my husband who currently lives in Abu Dhabi, but is a Nigerian citizen. His case completed on Sept 15, 2016 and I'm terrified the interview won't come any soon. I heard people who filed CR1 have been waiting for 5 months now for interview too. This torture is putting a strain on my marriage. I can't frequent trips to the UAE.

Nigerian Embassy is much more faster than this, and I'm wondering if my request will be granted?

He can certainly request it as he is a citizen of Nigeria so if he returns there to live he can interview there.

However, he will then need a new police certificate for Nigeria as he has returned to live.

Also, whilst Nigeria may be quicker, there's evidence to suggest that it's a much more difficult embassy to get through.

Oh well, I guess we are screwed. I regret it all. Never seen anything like this. First they rejected a police report saying it's not the right kind, then they turned around and accepted it after wasting 2 additional weeks and spending money to get a testament from the Ministry of Interior UAE.

Since ypu are still at NVC I sure would request now. Ypu probably will get a January date.

He just needs to get a new Nigerian police report when he'd ready gor interview. It's no issue.

Ae UAE stands ypu will be waiting until March or April. I still have June case complete waiting.

So screwed no. I would be calling NVC now then send them what they need to change you. Act now.

Ok they currently have his Nigerian police report since he's still in Abu Dhabi and hasn't relocated yet. I was hoping they will transfer to Lagos and he can gather whatever he needs from there prior to interview.

Yes a new Nigerian passport and medical for interview is what he will need.

You call NVC already?

Oh no. They are closed for the holiday. I emailed them through their website. Is the email an efficient means of contact or should I call on Monday?

Did they give a reason for not changing? I am in a similar situation. My CC date is about a week after yours here in UAE. I'm Irish and want to know would I be quicker transferring my case (or trying to) back to the Dublin embassy?

They denied our request because my husband already lives and work in the UAE, not Nigeria. It will only be possible if he has a job in Nigeria and currently there.

We've waited 4 months plus and no interview .... did you file CR1/IR? I think it's going to be a long wait, up to 6 months.

Yes I filed CR1/IR1. My cc date was a week after you. 21st September. I only just put up a timeline after finding this thread. I guess it will be April now.

Ok cool. Let's see what happens. I promise to let you know if I get a letter. I hope it won't take longer with this recent chaos in the US.

I've tried predicting when we are likely to get scheduled, and I think it could be in February or March.

The last person I spoke to here had a CC in July 23, then got interview date on Jan 21. So if they scheduled CC date July, that means September would be in Feb of March.

Time will tell. I am just exhausted from

waiting. It's torture. No one deserves to wait this long without closure.

Yes its very frustrating. Especially when you see how quick the interviews are scheduled in other countries. Please do let me know. I should be right after you fingers crossed!

Lets hope for March at the latest. My employer here in Dubai said they can give me a position in the New York office but only if I can start by 1st April.
