Hello,

Im from Greece and here we don't really do engagements parties. Engagements parties used to happen in old days. Do I need to throw an engagement party? Also I don't have an engagement ring yet because it wasn't a big formal proposal. Are those issues for the visa when I will have my interview?

No need to have a ring or a party. For some enbassies, engagement parties can be seen as wedding ceremonies so it's best not to have any form of celebration.

One does not need a ring to be engaged. Engaged is not a formal, legal status. It just means that between you, you have decided you want to spend the rest of your lives together by getting married. My husband asked me to marry him sitting at the kitchen table and gave me the plastic ring from the seal on the bottle of Mountain Dew he had just opened. You don't need a trip to Tiffany's to be engaged.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Lol @ what your husband did. It made me laugh as it reminded me of mine. We were sitting on our bed watching TV when out of the blue, he asked me to marry him. I actually thought he was playing. :-)
