Biometrics Apppointment Dates - Travel, and new address

My husband and I are going to Texas at the end of this month for around 10 days for Thanksgiving and then for two weeks at the end of December for Christmas and the New Year. I'm concerned about potential clashes with my biometrics appointment.

I got my NOA1 about a month ago and haven't received the appointment letter. I included in my original packet on the cover letter when I would be away and a request not to schedule my biometrics for then.

My husband called the USCIS line and the rep told him that there's a high chance they will honour the request as we included it in our original submission, but if not we could try a walk in, or we could file a service request to change the date or to change the place I get it done in to TX.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Also I read that LPRs have to constantly update USCIS of their address even if they aren't in any process until they naturalize as a citizen - is that correct? I'm planning to move in the middle of next year and I hope this will be done by then as I'm filing with CSC.

Can you get an Infopass?

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

That is correct. Part of your agreement with CIS is to keep them informed of your address as a LPR. It's a one-page form and takes a few minutes to fill out.

It can become an issue when you want to apply for naturalization. They argue that you haven't kept them up to date on your whereabouts, and that they have no way to find you if they need to communicate with you. And if you were to come into contact with law enforcement and someone ran your information, they could flag you because your current address doesn't match what the system says.

Otherwise, chances are that no one would notice until your card came up for renewal.

Keep your address current with CIS. It's not worth the risk to ignore it.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for the advice on the address. Does anyone have any experience with the biometrics?

How would I do that? A service request or call them? Or just walk in?

How long do they usually allow for the appointment when they send it? Like, do you receive the letter and it's an appointment for a week's time? Or a month? Etc
