Nobody cares about your taxes. If you decide to run for the green party nomination next time around we might though. Every other candidate had released them to date.

You can say Trump is controversial, but he was one of the loudest of the birthers lecturing on why we needed the release of Obama's long form birth certificate. He comes off as a bit of a hypocrite when he won't release information himself that people wanted to see. I don't have an issue with it because his supporters gave him a free pass on that and that's all that matters. If it had become an issue though, it was only on him and he could have ended it if he wanted too.

Being a natural born citizen is a constitutional requirement to being president. Releasing ones private information not so much . Evidently it wasn't that big of a deal huh

The thing about tax returns, and being able to write stuff off is that the more you own, and the more you make, particularly if you own a business, the more you can write off. And not everyone is ok with that, obviously. They think that a business owner is doing something illegal or immoral, lying on their returns, if you will. Sure, some do. And some get away with it, at least for a while. IMHO, one would be much better off NOT falsifying tax returns and being honest, cuz the IRS has a long arm, and a long memory. People who make less cannot take advantage of certain tax laws and deductions, and I suspect they think that when someone else is able to qualify for many more deductions, they must be doing something illegal.

No. I don't think he did anything 'wrong' on any of them. It's more about what he didn't want people to see.

He's been audited. We know there's nothing illegal in there or he'd be dealing with that already instead of being president. I don't think he wanted people to see how much he earned and how little he payed in tax (relatively), and the things he was able to take advantage off. He ran on the empathy of the working class. Not all of them would empathize with that. Out of site, out of mind was a better strategy and I understand why he did it.

Personally it's not an issue for me. I don't have to see a tax return or any other financial record to know whether they broke the law or not, and I don't identify with any candidate at that level.

That's basically what I said. There are legal avenues that address those things before someone can be president. Every Tom Richard and Harry doesn't have a right to see tax returns or birth certificates. If it's important enough to lose support, that's the candidate's risk.

BTW, I appreciate your attempts at imitation. They say it's the sincerest form of flattery.

ETA: censor again. Twice in one day.

Except not everyone who has run for president was asked for their birth certificate and the current president elect launched his campaign on questioning the citizenship of the seated president.

But hey if you are ok with Trump being above the standards set by all other candidates, that should be good enough.

Still one needs to wonder what he needs too hide.

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

I'm fine with the public asking for any of that before the election, and I'm fine with the candidates not having to if it's not legally required. It's the candidates choice what private information they want to reveal and it's the peoples choice whether or not that affects their vote.

After the election is over though, it's time to move on. Both the birth certificate and tax returns are not relevant issues for sitting presidents to be wasting time on. If there are legal issues, they should have already been addressed, and if legal issues arise they should be addressed through the proper channels. That will always be my beef with the birthers. They just didn't know when it was time to let it end.

Every modern president and vice president have released their tax returns every year while seated as president. I guess we will not expect this from Trump either, he plays by his own rues.

Yeah, as long as people let him he will. The honeymoon will end eventually. Patience is indeed a virtue.

Yes and he can't possibly beat Hillary.

What do you think, he's going to be there for ever? Even if he hold's congress together somehow, he may only have 2 years with a senate majority. He's already going to be the oldest president at inauguration in the history of the Republic. He squeaked into office not even winning the popular vote.

I know you guys haven't won in a while, but I can't see being too exited over this. Sure it's a great time to be a Republican, and I don't want to spoil all your fun, but the margin for error here just ain't all that big. Wouldn't surprise me if this ship sank before the inaugural.

Until you have been in South Korea and seen a silent protest where all protestors do is sit and hold a candle, never getting in the way of commerce, then you have not seen peaceful.
