Thank you for all your advice! I just want to also know whether the pcc paper to get the report says that it's specifically for a K1 visa. Also I wasn't asking about whether I'll mess up and my parents will find out, I was asking about whether during the process anyone of the officials which I think are required to keep this information as confidential, whether they have the liability to go and try to contact my parents. I'm not as worried about the doctors because they took a medical oath didn't they? Also they are live very far away from my house and I think even though the clinic is under their name, nurses and doctors from different nationalities are the ones that will be conducting the tests.

Only potential concern here could be, as it is in some countries, the embassy might find it rather unusual perhaps if they do not see evidence of your families approval for the relationship. Also that you SO has not met your family.

It might not have any bearing at all; but it has been mentioned in certain countries(some MENA ones also) that this would be considered "outside the cultural norm" of the region.

Just was a thought.

What if a field investigation is conducted by the embassy and they do a home visit to check how your family feels about it ?

It may or may not happen, nobody can guarantee it. Home visits do happen seldom but they do happen.

If the police certificate will cause an official to snoop deeper out of cultural motivation and contact your family no one here

can answer. It is a heavily cultural issue that you must ask those from your country who have gone before you.

My mom wants me to get hymen reconstruction surgery and possibly force me to get married after I get my bachelors degree.

I am extremely sympathetic to your situation , so please treat these questions as from a "virtual friend".

So your parents found out you were no longer a virgin and "grounded you" by withdrawing financial support?

The have the power to force you to marry?

What is you least resistance path to preserve your freedom? (AKA - not marry).

Is the computer from which you post here secure? If you are not 100% sure that it is secure, then I suggest you delete all of your accounts where you discuss resisting your family and reformat the hard drive and start over.

IMHO, your issue is how to survive with your freedom intact until you have the personal power to make you own decisions.

If Wikipedia is right, your chances are good. Of course, this could all be propaganda hiding an ugly reality.

I will never have the personal power to make my own decisions. The decisions I make go from being controlled by my family to my husband. I am using a safe device as I am just going to this website through an incognito tab which I always close after I'm done. I don't really care about the lack of freedom I have, it's a sad reality but you get used to it. I'm upset because I allowed myself to fall in love. Me and boyfriend truly miss each other and just want to be reunited. I long for the day to be in each other's arms again. This is why I am taking this route. Because I love him, not for any other reason. We won't even start filing the petition until a year from now but i am just getting everything prepared. I live with them, as is customary of an Arab family, and they feed and clothe me and allow me to go to school here. I will save up any money I get as a guise that I want to buy my own car, but it's really for the fees and expenses that this visa will cost. Isn't the purpose of this visa to let two human beings who love each other unite and get married despite cultural differences? Why would anyone start a field investigation or care that this is against my parents wishes if I am a legal adult in almost all countries and I am doing this because we truly love each other? I do think that the US consulate that are here will understand the risk I am taking by going to this length, and it would be pointless to do this for any other reason than love. Thy probably already know about the customs. If they ask me about that at the interview when the time comes, should I be honest? Or should I just say that they dissapprove because of the cultural difference (which is not a lie)? I've never been more distressed my entire life.

I entirely understand your situation. I'm not a Kuwaitia or even from the region but working here for 7 years made me get to know the country, culture and people. To answer your questions, first I need to ask you one. Did your parents keep your passport too?

What about the police officers when I go get my PCC? - Before you can even get your PCC you will need a letter from the Embassy to present to the CID in Dajeej. The officer that took my fingerprints only asked "To where?" as he need to fill this information from the form. Everything else are already from the Civil ID records.

Does the doctor know that it's for a K1 visa? - Yes but it doesn't matter I guess. There's only 2 authorized doctors here Kuwait and I went to Dr. Riyadh as he lived just nearby my apartment. He seemed nice and very professional. I can see it from the way he looks and the way he talks to me.

I have to show strong ties to my country? - You don't have to as the visa will be applied for is K1.

I know you are worried about "wasta" but I advise you not to overthink. As long as you will keep the plans and process to yourself (not even a single soul you know here in Kuwait to know), then you are safe.

If there is no evidence of family interaction for example meeting, chats or photos with the fiance then a home visit is possible.
There is a very small chance as I said but it has happened and can happen. With such very serious consequences that you may

have to suffer, do be careful and do your research if field investigations / home visits were conducted

from your embassy before you start this.

Hello! Thank you so much I really needed advice from someone who knows the culture here. So for your first question, yes they did take me passport but once the time comes (in a year or so) I know where it is and they won't notice it's gone. From what I see, recently Kuwait usually only takes a month at most when they take your passport to print the visa. On the paper that I give to the police department, does it specifically say that it's for K1? That's what I was worried about. The officers will give me looks if that is the case. Also do you think the US consulate will understand my situation about how my family disapproves? Will they even ask since they already live here and probably know that this is against my family's wishes? Do you think they'll conduct a home visit as a field investigation (as another person here has suggested could happen)? I will not tell a soul in Kuwait that I am doing this of course, and hopefully the process will go smoothly once I start.

I'm not sure how long it would take for them to process the visa for K1 since we did the CR1 and the CO told me that my visa should be ready in 5-7 business days (I got my passport back with the visa 1 week from the interview BTW). About the letter, it is in a basic request format in which you have to write down your name and DOB after the below paragraph in bilingual (you should know what I mean on how it should look like):

To Whom It May Concern

The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait would be grateful if the authorities in

The Ministry of Interior- Department for Criminal Evidence, in Kuwait

would assist the below-mentioned U.S. Visa applicant to obtain a certificate of

background check (list of judgments).

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

--------

The CO does not need to know that your family does not approve about your relationship. I mean if during the interview they don't ask about it, just keep the matter aside. If he/she does, well I'm not sure on what could be the next step for them. I agree with Ebunoluwa, do your research on that possibilities.

You will also need to get your birth certificate. If your parents have it you can usually also order a new one (at least that's how it is in my country). I don't know much about the K1 process in Kuwait but usually the consulate sends the passport back to your home address which means that your parents might possibly get it before you can. Just something you should also consider

I have copies and originals of all my documents like the birth certificate (and they're translated if they needed to be) from when I was applying to college so that shouldn't be a problem. Also they do not deliver our passports home because we don't even have mail men XD

From what I remember when I got my F1, they contact you and you have to go back to the embassy to pick it up. How can I check about the history of field investigations conducted here? A google search hasn't helped nor does reading the Kuwait us embassy website countless times. If you have any information in regards to that I would appreciate it :)

Also thank you so much for all your help and support! All your comments and posts mean a lot to me in my situation. I am deeply grateful for all of you.

One last thing, do you think my history of obtaining non immigrant visas without abusing them would help? I had a visa for when my dad was getting his phd and I was his child and accompanied him, I have many tourists visas since then, and my f1 visa. As well as some visas to European and Asian countries for tourism.

Oh okay, that's interesting! I didn't know that they don't have mail men in Kuwait. I have a friend from Kuwait that I've met in the US and who just came visiting me few months in my home country Germany and he told me a lot about your country. I know that there are families that are more conservative and some that aren't (his isn't although they insist that he stays in Kuwait now that he finished his studies in Florida).

I do think that it can be seen positive that you have traveled a lot but it doesn't have a significant bearing on the outcome of a K1 visa approval. What I think is more important is that you've had a student visa before and thus lots of face to face time with your boyfriend.

I think the chances of a field investigation are slim but something that happens in very very rare cases. Fingers crossed you won't have to deal with that! Good luck with everything!
