nice words to calm people's frazzled minds. just don't remind them trump is going to nominate & a republican controlled senate is going to quickly confirm two, three, maybe four supreme court justices.

I said in another thread that the most notable changes for democrats that will most likely occur under a Trump presidency would be to planned parenthood. The appointment of conservative Supreme Court Justices (although I don't think it will be as high as 3 or 4 new justices), seems to affirm that.

Honestly it's just bad journalism. The NBC article you quoted has the following initial sentence:

"The Dow Jones surged by almost 300 points on Wednesday, pushing the industrial average beyond a record high as the market absorbed Donald Trump's surprise victory over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election."

Nothing about that sentence makes it sound like they are specifically talking about post an election. They just state it is beyond a record high, which it is not.

Though I'm sure no one here is surprised that journalists are the greatest writers.

At the time I posted the article, that statement was in there. It appears they have backed off of that statement now and tweaked the article to say that the Dow actually surpassed it's all time high at one point yesterday, but then came back down to close just below.

Even that statement is false though. The Dow surpassed it's all time CLOSING high with a mid-day high today. The mid-day high today though was not higher than the mid-day high back in August before the all-time closing high.

Also reaching an "all-time" high for the Dow is not all that impressive. It happens every few months. If you look at it over the last 5+ years overall it just keeps growing.

Perhaps a letter to the editor is in line.

Your posts say otherwise.

Posting in a forum that I frequent for other reasons (My wife's immigration) is far less serious than writing to an editor to try to get them to change/update their article. At least to me it is. Feel free to write in on my behalf if you'd like.

You've spent more time posting about the wording in an article about the stock market than your wife's immigration process will take.

Unfortunately we should all know that is not true, and it's not something I or anyone should joke about here. We're done.

I agree 199% werds mean stuff

When the original article that was the subject of the op has since been changed from what it originally said, being cynical of verbiage that can longer be found is a bit of a futile exercise.

The original title of the article still remains in the thread title and that was the verbiage originally used in the article. it has since been removed.

Thread has evolved so much over a short time that it warrants closing, to avoid confusion and arguments. OP may start another thread on the general topic.
