Approved on June 2nd for my PD November 9. Today I get notified on USCIS that "Case Was Sent To The Department of State on June 12, 2017". Wondering how long should I wait before calling in for case number + invoice.

I would at least wait for 2 weeks then i would try to call them.

Yeah..after 7 months they are asking more lately..and then you have to explain again how this all works..and you just start to get more frustrating because everytime you explain it, you realize how ridiculous it is and how they work on petitions..moving back and forth...i haven't seen my husband since August last year..we can't afford another travel for me and my daughter with all the fees and stuff..the next plane ticket will be just one way. And i am tired of Nebraska already.

I know what you mean but if you buy a round ticket it's way cheaper than a one way ticket!

My timeline originally said between June 10th and 20th and then it obviously moved up before I updated the data this AM. I believe it read June 17th and 30th.

Congratulations on the approval! The fact that there is no sequence in the approvals just drives me crazy... I wish there was some kind of logic to this madness. We are PD Nov 7, still waiting and hoping..

Thanks! My guess is that some cases require a more thorough review than others. A few factors could be involved such as, the data filled out in the form, the way it was filled out, the type of evidence you attached, how it was prepared and other things that would cause them to hold on to your case longer. I do believe there is some kind of investigation that goes on with each case. That would determine how long it takes to approve.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense... although that also makes me a bit nervous. I thought we had a really clear case, we've been together for 5 years, lived together for two years and included lots of evidence (lease, shared bank account, pictures, letters from friends and family etc..) and had someone check our case to see if it was complete and properly filled out and we of course included a table of contents in which we specify all the different items included in the case... so to me it seemed like an organized and complete case.. we'll see! Hope the wait is over soon and I hope your case moves quickly through the NVC

Newbie here! We filed for my husband with our PD November 7 at Nebraska Service Center. I just today received the email below regarding our case. I'm a little confused by it. Do you guys think this is a good sign or that we might be sent a request for more info/extensive background checks?

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.
Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxx
Application Type: I130, PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE
Your Case Status: Initial Review
On May 23, 2017, we updated your name for your Form I130, PETITION FOR ALIEN RELATIVE, Receipt Number xxxxxxxxxxx. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

Hi! I just got this notice too, just now (June 14). What does it mean? Do you think it means they are looking at our case? I hope it is nothing serious!
