Hello Everyone! Quick question. Is it possible to get an interview for I-485 before getting the approval for I-130?

Our I-130 was submitted last year November 28th. I just recently submitted an inquiry on it a few days ago. But today in the mail we got “Initial Interview” for I-485 for November 21st. What should we expect to happen if we don’t get the approval for I-130 prior to this interview? Thank you for your time!

Also, how strict are they on the couple being married 2 years or longer to get the 10 year green card? The reason I ask is because we will be legally married for 2 Years in December 28th, having the interview a month shy of it, just curious if they would still give him only the two year conditional residency? Side note: we have been together for over 11 years, living together about 6 maybe even more, don’t know if that helps or changes anything? Thanks again! Sorry such a long post! 😃

Hmm... I feel like if you have a I-485 interview, I think your I-130 may have already been approved but they just somehow forgot to mail you approval letter?

I’m not sure but some people have told me that can happen sometimes, that if we get approved for I-485 and I-130; that we should expect to get both approvals after the interview at the same time.

Hmm.. Okay, I don't know how the interview is for I-485 without an I-130 approval first, but I can share with you my experience for my I-130 interview.

Just received email stating i129 was closed due to receiving other benefits. Called  and was told i130 was not done being processed. Had this happened to anyone else?

Yes, it happened to @Amber87. They called and was told I-130 was approved. Few days later they got an approval letter.
