Hi! My fiancé is Cuban as well, and we are currently gathering our documents to submit our I-129F. He is fluent in English, so I haven't had to translate any of our supporting evidence but I am planning on having a lawyer make certified translations of all my fiancé's Cuban documents. I think it depends at what point you're submitting this evidence. If it's at the interview stage, maybe it's not an issue because the consular officer speaks Spanish, but if it's at the initial petition stage, I think it would help to translate. This is what USCIS says in the I-129F instructions:

Translations. Any document submitted to USCIS with information in a foreign language must be accompanied by a full English translation. The translator must certify that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.

Hope this helps! PS what service do you use to send your fiancé mail? I usually end up bringing him all the documents I need him to complete and sign when I visit him, ha!

Hi Forena99,

Thank you for that information. So for the petition we do not need my fiancé birth certificate or single status certificate? Good to know as I was also born and live in the U.S. As for the emails/ FB chats I was thinking of only printing a few with spread out dates as there are so many, too many to print out every single one sent , lol. Also, How did your fiancé sign the paperwork? I was thinking of sending it via email having him print it sign it and mail it to me. Have you gotten approved yet for the first step? If so, how long did it take? Sorry to ask so many questions, it's just the process seems somewhat confusing at times.

Hi Acguillen4,

1. I did not send the beneficiary's birth certificate for the I-129F petition. It is not needed. Only the petitioner needs to prove they are a US citizen through birth certificate or US Passport or other various methods on the instructions.

2. I did email him the form, he printed it, signed it and dated it and sent it to me via DHL. It took 2 weeks to get to me in California.

3. I just got my Hard Copy NOA1 Letter in the mail couple days ago. =) So I'm waiting for any RFEs or NOA2 approval. *nervous*

4. I got notification via text in exactly 1 week after I mailed in the I-129F petition. On my birthday! =)

Thanks for your questions! Happy to answer, sorry if it's a little late!

Also, about the emails. I did also send excerpts from each month. Total it was 40ish pages (1-sided single spaced). Then there was the translated version which was another 40 pages. I used Google Translate. It's not the best, but neither was our typing. There are plenty of errors in the original chat logs, so I didn't bother to correct too much. The gist is definitely there.
