Where do k1's looking to change to a green card stand? I'm a white British citizen (yes sad to think that my skin colour would effect my outcome).. do I need to be worried?

I'm in the same boat as you buddy, British citizen who's about to submit an I-129F.

If I was a betting man, I would say that any legislation that is brought in as part of a new immigration reform would only affect future applications, not current ones - but that's just my guess

I'm currently in the k1 process so I am aware that won't be affected, so I won't be looking to do my green card application until after Trump comes in to power

In addition to both of these things, I did some research and it turns out that regarding both points he's talking about employment based green cards, he made no mention of marriage based green cards

He's been flipflopping (about everything, but also about these issues in particular), so there's nothing specific.

There's a NYTimes article dated Oct 18th (I don't think I can copy the link here) that says that Trump might try to reduce the amount of family based green cards (I assume that includes marriage).

But it's all speculation.

The only thing I'm sure of is that it's not gonna get any easier for any of us.

I honestly don't know to be honest. I would assume it'll take trump a while to get going. I'd say you won't see any significant change until July-August 2017. Personally.

I feel like a dummy but I don't understand what this means ?

It is sort of a tracker to keep check of our priority dates. Every month the USCIS publishes visa availability numbers for family based green cards and employment based visas.

I would make a cautious assumption that of all the immigration stuff he's gonna want to bring in, marriage based visas might be quite low down on the list. That's if he even changes them at all. His big thing up to now has been illegal immigration, and he's said numerous times that he supports legal immigration so who knows - maybe nothing will change too much.

A lot can happen within the first 90 days of a new presidency.

President Obama accomplished quite a bit, it's an important milestone and he might try to pass a lot more legislation than you might expect. Especially with a majority of Republicans in the other branches of power.

Hi everyone.

I came here as a K-1 visa (same-sex marriage), I already got a 2 year green card last July, and kept hoping that Trump would not win. Well, now we have this forum and I'm kinda worried if my 10 year green card will be effected or even if I would be deported to my country when my 2 year GC expires since Trump does not seems like LGBT community.

.

Any smart idea if it would happen?

I think you'll be fine - I would imagine renewing Green Cards won't be an issue

most of the people here are from the K-1 category , is anyone here from the F2A category? and did he mention family based green cards or nah?

I've not seen him mention family based green cards, personally - he may have done though
