So true! Some of us who don't live in the US and are not familiar with their government, are really worried! Including me! I thought this forum was about constructive discussion about Immigration and what are our choices and where do we go from here now that Trump is President. Lately, I do not see that happening. Also, people who have absolutely nothing to worry about, please don't tell others that we are spreading hysteria. Our anxiety is real and its for valid reasons.

I mentioned hysteria. My husbands waiting to AOS from a K1.

But coming on here with ignorance of the laws wont change anything.

People protesting around the US making many cities look like small war zones. Showing our children if dont get your way throw a tantrum.

This is a democracy it doesnt matter whos President....there will always be unhappy folks. I dont want this looting and rioting to be the norm.

My childs 5 going on 6 she said mom Trump is President can we go meet him. I asked are you happy hes the new President she said yes. Why? She shrug her shoulders and said my class made flags can I give him mine.

My childs watching as many are.

Do we want to taint our children???

I'm an Indian Citizen and my husband is a LPR. My visa type is F2A. Unlike yours, where one of you is a US citizen. We can't compare our cases.

On topic, I think Trump's immigration team will try to end DACA by not accepting new applications and by letting valid EADs obtained by DACA recipients to expire. That should give those unauthorized aliens time to plan their lives post-DACA while earning money and/or going to school in the meantime.

I also suspect the Trump administration to reverse Obama's policy on certain H4 visa holders being given employment authorization. Obama also extended OPT Extension for foreign STEM graduates from 17 months to 24 months and since this is essentially a runaround on H1-B visas (which Trump plans to restrict based on his campaign promises), I also expect OPT extensions to be reversed to previous periods of time or possibly even less.

TBoneTX - it seems like he himself is not going to touch Marriage Equality, which is a good thing. Not sure what his henchmen will try to make him do. Mike Pence scares me to death.

I do think, though, that there will be attempts to pass laws to "protect" people who call themselves "Christian" from having to serve, or deal with gay people. And that the court system may be stacked to be more likely to grant such laws.

I do feel for all couples where one of the partners is from a country that cannot "vet" people. It will make it so much harder.

And I abhor all the hate (children chanting "Build That Wall", women in hijab getting beaten, Hispanics being told to "go back to your country") that is currently happening. It seems as if bigotry, racism, homophobia and misogyny have crawled out of the woodwork and have been given open season.

Those of us in this forum (Visa Journey) have all been through the waiting, the hoping, the tearing-our-hair-out times, and though we are all from different countries, cultures, and situations, we all have things in common. Would that the world could be as diverse as our forum!

Donald Trump does not much have influence in the united states. We have "checks and balances" so he is not a king. Period.

Now, do you remember when obama and bush said he will let illegal immigrants to become a citizen? Both of them could not passed that bill. So it is not easy to pass a bill they want. Plus, when we had the obamacare it took years and years to put on progress. So the new immigration law will take months and years to see in progress. Also, do you know more illegals have been deported in Obamas administration than other administrations? No, you all guys think Obama is the best thing ever happen to U.S.

So, dont panic. The system in the US is very different than our nations. FBI-CIA and all other departments work freely.

Yes! Everyone on this forum wants one thing and one thing only. To reunite with their families! I've waited almost 2 years to be with my husband. Now when I'm 3 months away from all this to be over, I have to worry about if Trump is gonna freeze Green card issuance?! Where did I go wrong exactly?
