Elections in the US are... nasty and childish. People calling everyone who supports a different candidate all kinds of things.

In any case, talk is talk, especially when it comes from a candidate during a campaign. What matters is the person's actions as President, which is a reality that is different from the campaigning days.

In Turkey there is huge us air force. Adana incirlik. If he bands muslims to us how Turkey is going to let them to use their land. So u.s can not fight anything in syria and iraq. U.s needs friends to fight with terrorists.

So he might not ban Muslims per se but people from certain countries (i.e. Syria, Iran, Libya, Yemen, Iraq) are still at risk. It's happened before, Jimmy Carter cancelled Iranian visas via executive order.

We are about to send our package and it should be arriving there by the 10/11...

Do you guys think if Donald Trump wins, the process of removing conditions on residency will change between now and the next 4 months?

Send it, you may get Texas and be sitting pretty within 4 months ,,,, or get California or Nebraska and be sitting on your hands waiting!

Christmas and Thanksgiving will be a delay we all do not need so send sooner rather than later is my advice.

He had reason - hostages among other things BUT this will help:

In fact, Carter never paused Iranian immigration wholesale, nor was there a registration system. But what Carter tried to implement was bad enough in that regard. It did not pass the test of its first judicial review a judge barely three weeks after implementation, but an appeals court upheld the president’s authority to set immigration policy, “so long as such distinctions” be tween classes of immigrants “are not wholly irrational.” http://flaglerlive.com/88526/jimmy-carter-iranian-deportations/

True, but I can totally see him making a case for Iran without a hostage crisis.

On a positive note, I am surprised to learn that Carter's order was reviewed in 3 weeks! I did not expect the judicial branch to act that quickly, so that's reassuring.

I too came in through same-sex marriage but we filed the I-130. I am in the process of removing the conditions on my GC. Here's my concern:

Trump (and the Republicans in general) oppose same sex marriage nationally, preferring to leave the decisions at the state level. If the decision to nationalize same-sex marriage is reversed, then I am only considered legally married in the states who recognize same-sex marriage. The issue is that the USCIS is federal, and therefore wouldn't recognize my marriage as legal. If I have my full GC at the time this potential change happens then I'm good because I'm a legal resident. What I'm concerned about is if this (again, potentially) comes into effect before the USCIS review my petition to remove conditions. After all I checked the box which says I've been legally married to the same person on the original petition, and because of my legal marriage I request they remove conditions. If the marriage isn't recognized at a federal level then they may have the power to deny my petition on the grounds that I am not legally married and therefore have no claim to residency in the US.

All we can do is sit back, watch from afar, and hope for the best. Or I guess move back to the UK and start a petition for my husband to come over.

I didnt even file for the ROC yet. Same case like yours, but I just got my 2 year GC 4 months ago..this sucks.

Nothing. He becoming president means nothing. Yes, he has the power to bring jobs back here. But the president has NO POWER OVER IMMIGRATION. Reagen was able to grant amnesty because no one fought it. What Obama tried to put through was charge a fee/tax to illegal immigrants in order for them to get working papers and the okay to stay here NOT CITIZENSHIP. However, the Supreme Court blocked it because Obama does not have the authority to make that call. The Legislature Branch is the only branch which can change rules and regulations to immigration. Unless UNLESS there is a strong demonstration of destruction to national security. Banning people and building a wall is not possible. We have 3 branched of government in the USA for a reason and this is one of the reasons. Not to mention any change in immigration would take months and sometimes years.

Bush is nothing like Trump. Not even after 9/11 was Bush even close to as openly anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant as Trump.

Trump is not anti Islamic or anti immigration. He is against terrorists coming into our contry unchecked and illegal ailiens breaking the law to come here. He supports legal immigration and said he wants to make the process easier for people doing it the right way. A lot of misinformation going around here. By the way those of you in same sex marriages have nothing to worry about either. Trump has been an outspoken supporter of gay rights for years. Don't believe everything the TV tells you. Do your own research.

Campaign talk, insulting an Indian couple who were Gold Star parents are just some of the examples which DID happen. Unfortunately it raised the temperature and level of worry, I know as some parts of my family in the US are "split" and not talking due to FB exchanges!

The key is to split out the talk to date and the talk of a President as you observed/said.

I am not a Trump fan at all. But I do have to say they pick and chose his words to scare everyone. He never said he was banning people from Muslim countries he said he wanted to put a temp ban on people coming in from Iraq, Syria, and countries like that until there is a vetting process in place to keep the bad people out. I have no idea where this same sex stuff came from.

Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair - it gives you something to do but you never go anywhere. Don't worry. Just focus on your documents and preparing a place for your loved one.

Yeah, I'm freaked out. I hope Bangladesh doesn't make the 'list', as it is at least somewhat secular. But I feel horrible for everyone who may be affected.

Amazing this is happening that I have to worry about bringing my own husband to my country.

Considering Melania didn't have to worry much over her immigration case...

The problem is, like most of what Trump says, there are no specifics. The campaign is vague and hasn't mentioned any specific countries that would be part of a hypothetical immigration ban. My fiancee is from Indonesia, a country the US has a great relationship with but one which has its own issues with extremism in some areas. We're on track for her to get the visa sometime in April or May, but that's plenty of time for Trump to create an executive order banning immigration from a number of Muslim-majority countries. Do I think this will happen right away? Who knows? If it happens, will the courts challenge it? Certainly. But how long could that take? What happens to visas currently being processed?

There's so much uncertainty, and that's what's scary about this. I love my country, and I know my fiancee will love it here too. But if she's not welcome, what choice do I have but to leave?

On behalf of my countrymen, I'm so sorry. Nobody deserves even more anxiety when they're already undergoing a stressful process...
