More likely because the economic and trade policies that Trump has discussed (limited as that was), have caused great concern globally even before he was elected. Threatening China with a 45% tariff may sound like great tough guy talk to Trump's base, but it doesn't quite work that way in the real world when China can actually push back.

It dropped due to uncertainty. Doesn't matter what the cause of uncertainty is. No one can deny that based on polls and expectations Hillary was going to win. So for that to change very quickly make people get worried, so things tanked.

Once that "surprise" was over it rebounded. It also helped that Trump during his acceptance speech was essentially the most respectable he has been the entire election process. He didn't use the time to bring up his crazy ideas for China, Mexico etc... so people seem to be "reassured" at least right now that he recognises the difference between running to President, and being President.

After looking at the methodology of the polls and predictions saying Hillary was going to win and looking at the legitimate polls out there showing Trump ahead it should have been no surprise. I guess that is the power of the spin machine that is the corporate media. Some of those commentators looked like deer in the headlights last night. Their days of fooling the public are quickly coming to an end and they know it.

I think having both houses and the presidency in one party is something that wall street likes
