This is the election in a nutshell. The republicans didn't gain any voters from the past few presidential elections, the democrats lost voters. I think the shafting of Bernie Sanders in the primary played a much larger role than anyone thought it would, including myself.

I don't think we should discount the effects of the (last minute) reopening of the FBI investigation. She took a big dip after that and I don't think there was really time to recover.

Sorry what? How did you get that from his post? He didn't imply that at all. He said democrats didn't go out to vote like they have in prior elections, and he said it was likely because many of them felt down about their first choice of candidate Bernie Sanders and how he was treated in the primary. That isn't "rigging the election"? Rigging the primaries maybe ;)

I believe I said as much during the primaries. Between the super delegates and the funny business that went on behind the scenes with the DNC, I think Sanders got robbed of the democratic nomination, or at the least a fair shot at it.

You know I call em as I see em NB, I'm not one to pull punches. Not really any reason to be surprised.

You are, of course, quite wrong about this, Dakine. I have read blanket statements here on VJ, as well as all over FB, quite often. Got rather old, in fact. It's just an attempt to put down those who support Trump, even if the folks saying it know nothing about those to whom they were referring.

I'm not deriving any sentiment. I'm saying the reasoning is wrong. Liberals did not call 'everyday ordinary' people racist misogynistic or homophobic. Liberals pointing out that (some) Trump supporters were racist or misogynistic did not drive more 'everyday ordinary' people to Trump in order to vote 'against' Clinton.

Nobody encouraged that demographic more than Trump did, and they voted for him because he appealed directly to them, not in spite of Hillary.

except there's been a rash of racist and bigoted acts/comments coming from emboldened racist trump supporters, that's what i'm seeing on facebook. oh and i keep seeing reports about all these cops that have been shot by white men in the past week and yet i've not seen any of the typical blue lives matter, cage the animals crowd coming out to protest the violence in the slightest.

Why do you feel the need to add "flowery" insults? How does that add anything to a mature adult discussion? Things like "Take off your hillary glasses"? That doesn't aid your argument, it makes you just look childish.

Now to respond to your actual point. I never argued that the primary process wasn't rigged. The actual election itself though was not "rigged", Clinton just lacked the turnout. No one was standing outside voting booths kicking people away. They didn't even show up.

Again I'm fine to discuss things but leave out the childish language. It adds nothing.

The only "bigots, racists, and xenophobia" remarks I have seen on FB (and here) have been TOWARDS Trump supporters, or folks saying how scared they are now that he was elected.

I would imagine the cop shootings (I only saw one myself) were overshadowed by the election, as would be expected. Doesn't take away from the tragedy, of course. We'll get back to that shortly...

Two cops were shot and killed about 10 miles from my casa last week. FB lit up with black people screaming that if a black man had done it he would not have been taken alive.

Then later it was revealed the suspect was shot in the gut but will survive. I guess the main difference is that I dont loot and burn when a cop killer is shot like they did in Ferguson. In fact I wish they had taken him out

I also see the racist comments on FB. A black friend of mine wrote. How do I explain to my kids that we just elected a President whose supporters call me the N word. cept she spelled it out.. I don't do FB political fights, but I wanted to ask her how she explained to her kids she supported a candidate who had a performer on stage at a rally that used that word many times in a song.

Amen brother

As I told VAL we had two killed very close to my home. Us Hick deplorables did not burn the town down because the suspect was shot . In fact we wish it had been a head shot

sigh. don't even have the energy for this. i guess for the next four years, ya'll are gonig to feel teetotally justified in your warped view that black people are the racists and white people suffer this racism from blacks and muslims and hispanics everyday. delusional, but you've been validated by dear leader. i get it, sure. you're safe in your own skin

but there have been more than two cops shot in the past week, and they were shot by white men. ignore the issue all you want, but its not the sort of thing that's escapable long term in society

Only blacks can be the subject of racism.

yeah, i know that you're very limited to accepting only what you personally see and experience in to your definition of reality. what i'm saying is that i'm seeing the opposite. and, per usual, now is the time when you say i don't know what i'm talking about.

you should get on it now, i know that if those cops had been shot by black men prior to this election, there wouldn't have been overshadowing. that would have been everywhere and trump supporters would have taken to the streets with their guns ready for a race war.
