sigh. just because you don't have a personal anecdote to add to the mix - doesn't mean that the racist white vote doesn't exist or didn't vote for trump. you can't deny either of those things anymore than you can deny david duke was alive and tweeting up a storm this morning.

homework assignment: read the works of the late great joe bageant. start with 'deer hunting with jesus' and then 'rainbow pie'. missed joe so much this election, he understood. he would have seen this 'upset' coming from..well, belize.

and how many blacks do you think voted for Obama because he was black.. Millions I am sure. Of course I am sure thats not racist

Again I'm not agreeing that all of Trump's white voters are racist, but your comparison to Obama is ignoring the argument that the other person is trying to make.

Obama didn't run on a platform of excluding non-black people. Trump campaigned saying things like lets ban all muslims from the country. Now you could argue whether Trump was serious about a lot of his campaign promises (even people in his own camp many times would argue that he "didn't mean it"). However, you have to concede that that rhetoric MAY have attracted certain people to him.

Were all white people who voted for him attracted to the idea of kicking out non-white people? Of course not, but if someone who has a deep mistrust of non-white people sat down to vote and had the option of voting for Clinton or Trump, Trump would have been a more attractive option for them.

hey, do me a favor and don't respond to my posts if you're not going to at least attempt to understand what i'm saying.

and no, i do not believe that the majority of obama supporters voted for him because he was black.

i wonder why you all are getting so offended at me merely pointing out that racist people voted for trump.

I find it hard to believe that. Looking at by friend base, and knowing the many that voted for Trump, and the few that voted for Hillary... Not one of them fits your description. Americans spoke. Trump won. Just because Hillary did not win does not mean that the majority of voters are racist or fascist. Pretty narrow view to take, IMHO.

Do you deny that racists and fascist didn't vote or support Trump? Now, you might say this is but a few thousand persons, how do they matter surely? But there have been numerous other rallies for Trump with similar minds saying similar things. I have lost count of the articles liberal leaning, conservative leaning, libertarian leaning, even 100% straight up evangelical leaning that have noted the rise of neo-nationalists harkening to Trump and feeling that he best represents them. It's not just traditional racist organizations such as the KKK who endorsed him but a new wave of nationalism being cleverly disguised and marketed en-masse to the populace. It's being disguised as someone who is different, new, and fresh someone who can make changes for the little guy. I'm not even sure Trump believes in it himself, but the people behind him sure do. Among them is one of those individuals who has openly admitted to pro nationalist pro anarchist ideology. The type of individual who does not believe in a constitutional republic democracy. But someone that wishes to fundamentally change the US into his type of utopia. One that does not align with the basic principles of decency and freedom. The majority of voters are not racist, that much is clear by the narrow win of the popular vote for Hillary. Nor am I saying that not every voter for Trump was or is a fascist, but it does us little good to overlook the 'elephant' in the room that exist. The alt right is steeped in fascism, is attractive to many, not based on any values this country should ever hold dear.

Just because they are not in your circle of friends does not mean they don't exist. I have no racists in my circle of friends thankfully, but I do know some who voted for Trump. I know a lot of people in Michigan in fact. The town I currently reside in is heavy red KKK territory. You get to know who is racist here and who is not pretty quickly. And I can tell you, among those racists, they weren't even interested in Hillary... and it wasn't because of her emails. But I won't overlook the fact that even if some did not have those motivations in voting for him, that there were plenty who did.

I never get offended.

Yes I agree some racist people voted for Trump. Some also voted for Hillary. As did for Obama and most every other President in History

Marvin would be proud. Trump won because of Racism

For the bold part - just as many racist people voted for Hillary as voted for Trump. Even Steven.

I believe that the majority of people who voted for Obama did so because he was black, and they thought it would be a good thing to bridge that gap. What with "change" and all. Unfortunately, that experiment failed.

But oddly enough Obama did much better with the white vote in many areas than Hillary did.

Oh it must be sexism then

Hillary had 23 more racist votes than Trump did. That changes nothing. Racist people area allowed to vote, as are the rest of us.

Obama (In 2008) did much better than both Trump and Clinton. He had what, 10 million votes over McCain? So if you look at percentages he is going to be better than both of the candidates this year in a lot of categories. When people talk about a "mandate from the people", Obama's was much stronger based on popular vote than Trump has (or doesn't have, if the final tally continues to show what it does now with Hillary narrowly beating him).

my opinion doesn't make me right, reality does.

Remember though we now live in a world of pseudo facts, where opinion becomes fact, and when reality does not back up those facts is immediately discounted. Believing is seeing ya know. When reality does not support your opinion make your own reality and own that thang!

The reality is... You have no idea how many racist people voted for either candidate. Any claim as to such is so many black letters on a white background in a meaningless forum.

dude, there have been lists complied of the racists (open, proudly racist) who supported trump and they're available for your reading pleasure; you act like i'm making this up. so, while i don't have an exact number or percentage, i have a good "idea" that racists by and large supported trump.
