Friend referenced me to this site for some unofficial advice. I live in Canada (Citizen) have been dating someone in the USA (Canada Citizen with a Green Card) for several years (3) and recently found out happily that she is expecting our baby in February 2017.

Want to do the right thing and move to USA to support our baby with intentions to potentially move back to Canada. Not sure how things will play out right now.

Luckily, I work for a company that is willing to help me obtain a TN Visa and an Engineer. I am, for obvious reasons, very nervous about being denied entry and would like to cover all my bases...

I travel significantly for work throughout USA and Canada. USA is primarily business meetings, conferences etc... (not working), and have spent close to a total of 6 months in the USA this year already...Not sure if important but sharing as much I am comfortable with.

Are there any items I should be on the look out for and/or anything I can do to make my application more solid? Is the soon to be baby something I should bring up during interview? Would engagement help? I know a perm residence in Canada is required?

A lot running through my mind, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is words of encouragement :) Thanks.

Well, if you are applying for a TN visa, you are seeking a work authorization. The question they will ask you should gravitate more around the job you will do. I did not know they had an interview for TN visa. I thought they were granted at the Port of Entry. Even if they ask you about your family situation (which I assume she and the baby will be your family now), as long you don't have immigration intention and that you make it clear that this is temporary, you should not have any issue.

Because she is a PR only, I doubt getting engage would change anything.

Good luck,
