Yep, the number is the same.

It probably says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" on it, right? If you come on a K-1 your EAD Card or Greencard are that, I believe.

What I did was I got my name changed on my SS-Card after I got married (I came on a K-1) because the updated Card (it still says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" because I am only just in the Adjustment process) can (in Massachusetts) be used as a document (proof of signature) when going through the driver's licence process.

I did it right after we got married so was still within the 90 days of my I-94 (arrival record) that I had to bring as part of the ducuments with my passport to prove that I entered legally.

Hi Mena,

My fiance and I are doing the K1 visa now as well.

We are curious if he can use his old social security card with the "valid for work only with DHS authorization" to apply for a marriage license in Massachusetts(which is where we are having our wedding next summer). He was employed in the US for 6 years but now lives back in Australia.

I would be interested in hearing your experience. Thanks!

Yes.

SSNs are issued for life, and do not change.
