I don't know why it is overrated for you and how it is not that important to you. Because all of the people I know who are in the US for more than a decade says that credit score is one of the very important and other even considered it as necessity especially if you will buy a house, car, loan for education and etc.

I have been in the USA far longer than a decade. I have multi vehicles and paid cash for them all, I have 5 sitting at my home and 3 more at my shop. I used to buy/sell real estate used a Hard Money loan to buy my first couple of houses, they use house value and rehab cost based to loan you money credit score does not matter. After a few houses I was able to pay cash and bought many. As I said credit score is over rated here in the USA

cool. I will be working in new york but I will be staying with my aunt in stockton, CA for 3-4 weeks. So I am planning to open a bank, get my ssn and driver's license in California.

any recommendation on the best bank to open for new immigrants?

I mean what bank can issue an early credit card? I am planning to deposit 3-4k dollars. Thanks

Welcome to the US, my advice would be if you are serious about credit open a secured loan I recommend Alliant Federal Credit Union. You have to open a savings account and then apply for the loan about a week later. I would recommend the Savings Secured Long 60 month term at 500 bucks. You should only use this if you have no installment loan history aka home mortgage, car, or student loans like I did. 10% of your credit score is your mix of credit. You can try SDFCU also since you are in california that would be my second choice, step 2 is you have 2 options, you can go for a secured card or a low limit one, I would open the installment loan first and a few months later apply for a capital one card, after you get one capital one card, apply for another one a few months later, after about a year of good history you can start applying for more high end bank cards like chase freedom, discover, american express, don't go crazy you should only have like 5 cards maximum, let them grow. If you need more information about credit google myfico credit forums.

Yes, that is one of the major requirements, however many companies in the USA tend to pay them on the low side in the IT field, but in the medical field it tends to be on par with others in the industry.

exactly. it is a biggy if the annual is not on par with the prevailing wage. so the embassy is not just about interview in EB visa but also they can dictate if the offer is below the prevailing wage. Thanks Mark, at least you know what you post unlike the other guy who keeps on replying with thinking or researching. lol

Well ... pardon me... I see you have been on here asking for a variety of advice, those times what I offered was OK ... but one mis-step ... ouch!

BTW. Thanks for the update. I have very little contact with the EB visa.

I didn't give you advice with the comment you are carrying on about. I simply said - I didn't see how it is the embassy responsibility to dictate salary from a private company.

Just a comment ... and this is a forum on the WWW.

As said earlier - I appreciated your update.

Beyond that - not so much.

$96500 is almost a hundred. ;) New on the job a little lower pay maybe? May have a pay raise in the near future... :)

this one. i know it is almost a hundred but THERE is 98k and 99k. i will not mention almost if 96500 is enough for the consul.

Don't see how it is the embassy responsibility to dictate salary from a private company. This is a visa interview

another one... if you just know about the prevailing wage you won't answer like this. "don't see ho embassy can dictate salary to private company" rofl.

first - learn math

second - research before answering. there is no harm in asking a question first ;)
