Adjusting from ESTA to perm residence

Hi everyone

I am a USC, and i am engaged. My Fiance has been here in the US for about 55 days into her 90 day ESTA and we plan to get married just after 60 days. We would like to adjust her status while she came to visit me.

She doesn't have any criminal background, and we have been getting varying advice from lawyers who tell me because our case is straightforward we don't need a lawyers help other than to do the paperwork for us, to other lawyers who say they recommend lawyers for every case.

Looking at the forms from the AoS guide, it seems like we feel rather comfortable filling out the forms and following the guide, but wanted to get some extra opinions on whether it is worth the extra $2-3,000 to hire a lawyer to not take any chances for our case before moving forward.

Are there other reasons why we would need a lawyer?

If you're comfortable doing it yourself, and have no negative factors (other than pre-conceived intent, which by itself cannot be the basis of a denial) then go right ahead.

What difference does it make? Whether it was "in mind" or elsewhere, it's completely irrelevant now.

OP, your case is straightforward indeed so save your money and file yourself.
