Hello everyone. I filed an I-130 for my wife in JUNE 2015 at Texas service center. I received I-797c a few weeks later.

February of 2016 I requested a inquiry on why my case is taking longer then the 5 months office states online. I got a reply stating my case needed additional review and I would get an update within 60 days or so.

After no word from them, I did another request on why my case is taking longer then normal in April 2016. May 2016 I got a visit from the FBI they wanted to ask some questions about my wife and our relation ship. They were real nice and polite and told me that now he can return my application back to USCIS. July 2016 I got a request for evidence. I put together 25+pages of travel documents, passport stamps, hotel reservations, family photos, wedding and much more. In August 2016 I got a notice that they received my packet and I will get an update in 60 days. 64 days pass and I request another inquiry and today I received an email stating my case is still in review and I would receive a decision or notice of further action within 90 days.

So what im asking I guess is this normal ? Every time I call USCIS I get some guy who reads a script...

Is there anyone I can talk to other then the help line on the USCIS website? I have family who say to hire a lawyer but realistically what more can a lawyer do but drain my wallet?

Im just frustrated that the very first step hasn't been completed yet and im 6000 miles away from my wife.

Thank you for any help

Also if this is in the wrong section I apologize and feel free to move it to the correct forum.

A visit from the FBI is far from normal.

What country is your wife from?

Hello

I understand your frustration it's been 15 months for me since I applied for my husband. I keep getting the response that my case is still undergoing background check! I don't if that's the truth because it's been way too far to complete background checks. I know people that applied months and months after me and got approved. And people that applied same day as me and alread got approved. Their whole system is just unfair!! Unlike u tho I haven't gotten a visit from the fbi because that's far from usual. Your the first I hear about getting a visit from the fbi. But I know that usually after U submit evidence it shouldn't take more than 2 month to make a decision. You should call and ask to speak to a teir 2 supervisor. U can also contact your congressman/woman and the senators office. They would contact the USCIS for you. And they get information that USCIS wouldnt tell petitioners.

Good luck!

Jordan, im not surprised with all recent events of the world but I have friends and family who applied the same time as me from the same country and they didn't have as much trouble .

I would contact the CIS Ombudsman and ask them to investigate.

I've heard of USCIS transferring the case to a local office and requesting that the USC attend a face-to-face interview to establish more facts about the case but a visit from the FBI is a whole new level.

Is there anything in your background also? Criminal record? Travel to 'hot' destinations (and I don't mean the local weather), involvement in any political groups?

Just an update back in march they sent me a second rfe and guess what...they lost the first rfe I sent back in August 2016. I resent everything and now I guess I have to wait another 8 months or them to get to my case again.
