AOS From F1 Student Visa: Out of State Medical Exam?

Hello Everyone!

We live in NYC and are being processed here, however, my husband is spending time down South currently.

We were foolish and overlooked the medical portion of our submission for the Greencard figuring - "o he has full immunization, I'm sure our Primary Care Physician will be able to just sign a form or something easily before our interview." We didn't quite realize it was a process through a certified Civil Surgeon etc.

Now our Interview is more than likely quickly approaching, we should be finding out before the 19th. Would it be questionable if he got his medical examination done out of state while he is away instead of scheduling a specific trip back to the city just for the exam? Would that make someone doubtful about our commitment during the interview process?

Our marriage is legitimate - if they wanted they could look through our camera roll on our phone or our social media to confirm it at this point haha - but just wanted to inquire about if it would possibly delay our card being processed?

Thanks!

Timeline:

-Applied in March

-Waiting for Interview since April 11th

-Social Security processed.

-Combo Card processed.

-Official inquiry about delayed Interview processing sent 10/31/2016.

-Phone call from Immigration telling us "more info is coming before 11/19 via mail" on 11/04.

-Currently: Crossing fingers all is done before the new year and our trip to his family abroad in January!

There was a recent topic about having the medical elsewhere, the reason being because it was cheaper. The consensus was that it would be perfectly fine, I believe it applies to your case as well

Thank you so much! This is good news!

That was an added benefit to doing it out of NYC where everything costs more money except for slices of pizza.

You can use any civil surgeon.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based Visas to AOS from Work, Student & Tourist Visas -AOS from student visa ~

Just to be clear an F1 Student Visa (that expired after getting married) who is getting an AOS through marriage (and currently residing in the states), will need the I-163 medical exam even if the vaccines are up to date correct?

The only one absolved from the medical is a K-1?

Someone that entered with a K-1 visa and already had their medical abroad from a panel physician within a year of filing is not required to get another medical.

Someone that is in the US on another visa type that did not yet have an immigrant medical exam is in need of receiving a medical for AOS. They see a civil surgeon to get the exam and any required vaccinations, which will use the I-693 form.

From the USCIS adjustment policies > https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume7-PartA-Chapter4.html

Volume 7 – Adjustment of Status, Part A – Adjustment of Status Policies and Procedures

Chapter 4 – Documentation

...

7. Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record (Form I-693)

Form I-693 is required for adjustment of status applicants who either did not receive a medical examination prior to their admission to the United States or who do not have evidence of an overseas medical examination in their file. A medical examination and vaccination record must be documented for most adjustment of status applications and completed as closely as possible to submission of the adjustment application. [8] If not completed overseas, the medical examination must be completed by a designated civil surgeon in the United States and documented on this form. [9]
