I want some advice about my immigration status. I came to the US on a spousal visa.me and my wife got married in July 9th 2013 and I got my visa in June 2015 and I came in 6 days after our second marriage anniversary and I was admitted on a cr1 status at the port of entry and I got an Ir1 10 year green card.but me and my wife have not been getting along and we agreed to give each other some space for a while.but my wife elder sister who was my co-sponsor went down to the immigration to withdraw her sponsorship and she told me the uscis office said I have 90 days to find another sponsor,or else i ll be kicked out.but,I still have'nt heard nothing from the uscis office.

I'd like to know if there is anything to worry about or I should contact the uscis office.

I would appreciate your prompt response.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think you can just "withdraw" your support after you sign the dotted line. If that was the case there would be no reason to have an affidavit of support. She lied to you.

The affidavit is in full effect now. Nothing the sister can do.

Your sister-in-law lied to you. Once you have the GC, the I-864 cannot be withdrawn.

Even if you eventually get divorced, the only change will be that you'll have to wait 5 years as a LPR to be able to naturalize. Otherwise nothing will change as you have a 10-year GC.

Obviously, not true. But I don't know what she hopes to gain from telling you this. Maybe she thinks that you will leave voluntarily so she will be off the hook? That tells me that she knows that the marriage is over and is trying to get out of her I-864 agreement.

This may not be the right way to go about this for you, but I'm a vindictive #######, so that's what I would do. If it was me in your shoes here's what I would do. Since she lied to you, you should lie right back to her. Tell her that you are quitting your job (you gave 2 weeks notice), so she should get ready to fully support you. Tell her that if she doesn't, your attorney (even if you don't have an attorney) said that she can be sued under the I-864. Let her think about that for a few weeks.

I wouldn't do that. Don't threaten her or message her she can look at it as harassment and you can ge in trouble. Just ignore her. She can't have you kicked out. She signed a legal doc. That is it. However, sorry Eric I had to laugh. It is kind of funny. I just don't want him to get in trouble.
