Hey!

I have a little dilemma and can't seem to make heads or tails of everything. I REALLY hope you guys can help us!

My Swedish wife has just received her NVC notice and we are going to make the payments for her visa online. I have just a couple of questions:

1. I am a US citizen

2. Both my daughters are US citizens (birth abroad)

3. My wife is Swedish

I have lived in Sweden for almost 20 years. I work full time as an IT Project Manager and file taxes both here and in the US with the IRS. My job will not be following with us when we move. If they require a joint sponcer, should the joint sponcer be for our entire family? or for just my wife?

The petition is only for her. I have not petitioned for my kids since we are citizens and can go home whenever? Or am I thinking wrong?

Question 2.

For financial support, do I include my income since it is reported to the IRS? Or is my income now $ 0.00 since my job isn't following with me? We have cash in the bank like 40k and opened a bank account, contacted schools and got rentals offers.

I really hope someone can help. The more I read the more confused I get.

The joint sponsor will only need to earn enough to support your wife, not your whole family as you and your children are already USCs and not immigrating.

Yes, you still need to complete an I-864 and enclose your tax return information even though your income will be $0.

This reply isn't directly on topic, but your experience caught my eye as an IT project manager. I see in your profile you list "Utah" as your state. Are you committed to moving to Utah? I live in New Mexico (nearby) and I know there are openings for IT project managers at the State of New Mexico. There are other employers for that position in this state, as well. Of course, I'm sure the State of Utah has such openings, too. Anyway, best of luck on your new life in America.

What is making me worried is the attached file.

Part 3.

How should we answer this?

I and my daughters will of course be joining mom at the same time. Living in the same house. Are you sure that I dont need to bring them up in the application?

It would of course make things much easier :)

They aren't immigrating because they're already USCs so you don't need to list them there. What you'll do is on your own I-864, you'll list them as dependents (Part 5) in your household size. This will show that you are living in the same house.

Ok so my joint sponcer claims my wife and on my i-864 I claim my kids? But its asks if you married add one. We are married.

My joint sponcer is my uncle. We will be living with him until we get established.

Why does it have to be so complicated :)

Don't count anyone twice.

Your wife is the immigrant you are sponsoring and you are only sponsoring her (not the children) so number of immigrants is 1

Add 1 for yourself

And the number of children you have.

That's your total.

Where it asks you to add 1 for being married, DON'T. That would mean counting your wife twice.

Now, the joint sponsor (let's say it's your brother) would put 1 for the number of immigrants, 1 for himself, 1 for his wife and then any children they have. He would need an income that covers his household plus one.

You are still your wife's sponsor even if you have $0 income.
