Well idk about jamaica embassy. But mumbai embassy gives it on the same day or on second day. I got on the third day( i live far away from mumbai,India). All the very best.

Not in JA. They did not give my husband the option of picking it up at the embassy either. He had to go to DHL in kingston to get it. We felt like 7 business days was record time for Kingston embassy. We also felt like the only reason they even processed it that fast was because of all we had been through and it was his second interview.

Wow really? It takes them at least 2 days to get to DHL. DHL will be slow as ever because it's Christmas. I'd love to hear how this turns out. Wishing you miracles.

Also, aren't K1s allowed one way flights? One way flights from KGN to JFK are less than 300 dollars the second week in January and somewhere around the 400 mark for return

When I flew from JFK to sdq a one way ticket was 163$ and that was in March. I think it depends what month/season you buy your tickets I know for the summer it was a lot more money but I guess that's how the Caribbean gets

I love my husband ?‍?‍?

Yes. We bought one way ticket from JA to DTW for under $400 without the 10 day advance window. Usually they're about $200.

The holidays maybe the reason ticket prices are higher tho.

Just looked up one way flights end of December. A one way ticket is $200 with jet blue.

It's just a 3.5 hour direct flight. Plus it's a regular route. Flights to NY and FL are relatively cheap from Jamaica. Lots of flights

I bought my ticket thinking three weeks was a good time to get back....thinking I was gonna save....cost me double what I saved.

"Necessary" AP took 32 days and we were approved.

Nothing ever goes as planned....

My husband will be having his interview December 21, the last full weekend before Christmas. I went ahead and bought his ticket for the 25th i know that i should wait on till i get the visa, but it the tickets are very expensive from Jamaica $700+ after the 25th.

My question is can he show the CO officer at the kingston embassy his ticket (after he gets approved) and ask them if he can pick it up friday the 23rd, because DHL in jamaica will not be working the 26th or the 27th.

Answers??????

It's gonna cost you more because the visa will not be available until after the flight you already purchased. Sorry but you just threw away some extra money. Good luck and God Bless

I know the comments are not what you want to hear but patience is one of the keys to this process. Instead of focusing on rushing to get him here, spend that time making sure all your ducks are lined up. You're assuming he's going to be approved. Anything can happen. Not to mention he hasn't completed his medical yet. I think maybe even rushing to expedite your case and getting an interview around Christmas was a mistake rather than letting the process take its course. It took my husband 5 working days (a full week) to get the documents. And yes he had to pay more for the tix, but I had fully prepared him that it would be more than the $200 we saw a month or so ago and he worked his butt off to save. Hate to say it, but more than likely you wasted that $$. Just be patient. And be prepared.

I think everyone that responded is right! Contact the airline and see what are your options for your husband ticket. Best of luck to you!
