K-1 Visa Process Question

I submitted the K-1 Visa for my fiance in October and received the receipt later that month. A few days ago, USCIS updated my status to "On November 2, 2016, we approved your Form I-129F, Petition for Fiance(E), Receipt Number xxxx/.We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice.". Does this mean that the case is being forward to the National Visa Processing Center? I was wondering if someone can give a brief outline if what happens next.

I also need to change my fiance's mailing address in India as it changed. Should I wait until it is at the National Visa Processing Center since USCIS is moving the case forward?

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Nope..if that's the first time of getting a notice of Action then it is not going to NVC.

She said she received the receipt later in October for the petition. Then she got a second notification. Which would be the NOA-2 if she did in fact get the NOA1 already

Hi, yes I got NOA1, so this is NOA2 and just waiting for the hard copy to come in the mail.

Then yes you were approved! Congratulations! Your next step is to wait for it to be sent to the NVC, you can start calling in the next couple of weeks to see if they have received your case. Also, please fill in your timeline so we can better help you, and it helps out other members as well.

So you're i129F petition got approved in just 1 month? That's a rare case, because from my understanding, it typically takes 5 months average. Could you tell me which service center handled your petition? My fiancé and I will start with this k1 journey in January.

One month is a bit below average at the moment but not by a huge amount. 35-40 days between NOA1 and NOA2 seems to be fairly normal at the moment.

5 months is just how long USCIS tells people it could take, it's not the average time. Processing times have been that slow in the past, I believe, but things are moving pretty quickly at the moment.

Also, all K-1 petitions are currently being sent to the California Service Center, that's the only place handling them at the moment.

EDIT: It's also worth noting that the fee for the I-129F is going up from $340 to $535 on December 23rd so you might want to consider filing before then if possible.

This is incorrect. The Op clearly said the status reads that his case was approved, that's NOA-2. NOA-1 states the case was accepted. Two completely different messages.

I take offense the way you worded your statement towards my reply. You are not talking to a child.

OP's post and from his/her timeline didn't indicate that this was the 2nd notice that's why I asked that question. I know the difference between the two. Been around immigration for a long time to know but I responded to OP in a way not to make any assumptions.

I think the short time frame to get approved and recieve the NOA2 has to do with the country of the beneficiery or where he/she resides. Since you guys live in the UK, I'm sure it takes way less time than someone who lives in Kuwait or Egypt for example.

Now, wait for 10-12 days and then call NVC to get your case number. At the same time, you can ask them what can be done about your fiance's address change.

The number is 603-334-0700 for immigrant or 603-334-0888 for non-immigrant cases [HOURS: 7am - 12am EST, M-F]. You can call either but in my experience, the non-immigrant line is less busy.

After NVC, your file will be forwarded to the embassy in India. For more information, you can check out the regional discussion area of the forum for India.

The time to petition approval/NOA2 is the same for everyone

The time to interview can vary depending on if the embassy has a wait

As the post above mine said, the beneficiary's country has no impact on how USCIS handles your case. Also, the OP's beneficiary is from India so I'm not sure where you got the idea that they're from the UK from.
