Advice about supporting documentation

Have any of you forgotten to send all of your documents in with the I-130 packet? I sent my !-130 in and in my haste, I did not add emails, photos, and other items that would show my three year relationship with my spouse. If I send these documents in with my I-129 packet, will this be of any value? Your coments are welcomed

I would note with an attachment the fact that you didn't send supporting documentation of your relationship with your spouse when you send in your I-129F packet. I would imagine in todays world of high speed information overload one USCIS office could communicate with the other, but we're talking about the government here. I worked very hard on my supporting evidence because I've only been married for 5 weeks. I sent USCIS -Chicago everything I had sent California plus copies of my stetdaughters I-130 paperwork. The only thing I worry about is that I sent the Chicago office copies of the G-325A's and not another set of originals that were sent to California. Have you received a I-797 (NOA#1) yet ?

I would save proof of an ongoing bonafide relationship for the interview. You need that to get a visa application approved but you do not need it to get a petition approved for a spouse. You are petitioning for permission for your spouse to apply for a visa.

If you proved you are a US Citizen who was free to marry and that your spouse was free to marry and legally married, you're covered. This, provided you submitted the REQUIRED documentation.

Hey guys, same thing happened with me. I forgot to send it with my I-130 package but i received my Noa1 2 weeks later. I sent in my I-129f and still did not know about sending evidence for the relationship, and did not send it as well.

I actually only found out today that you were advised to send in that documents of the relationship.

But i received my I-129f NOA1, almost 2 weeks ago. Haven't gotten any touches yet or RFE's. I'm hoping everythings okay.

i'm really worried though. any advice would help as well.

God bless

I was under the impression that the marriage certificate was sufficient until the interview. I just got back my NOA1 from the I-130 with no problems.

But... I hear that if you do send proof in writing it needs to be translated...

I'm sending my I-129F tomorrow and I don't think I'll send proof... the marriage SHOULD be enough!

You know what you're right.... they are asking for more evidence now... but I don't have any because he lives there and I live here and we don't have kids... maybe we'll slip through!

You should be fine. Remember, the I-130 is used for adjustment of status too, maybe even more often than for an actual entry visa. People already here together, adjusting status will have many of these things. People who met and married abroad but currently live separately, usually don't. USCIS and DOS know this.

I sent my marriage and divorce certificates, no pictures, no emails, no telephone bills, no letters. Both my I-130 and I-129 were approved on same date, without any RFEs.

So, what is the conclusion? I am about to start the K-3 process for my wife in Colombia.

I have none of the documents listed in the Guide for evidence of a bonafide marriage. Two things I could send as evidence (in addition to the marriage certificate) are:

1) Photos of the wedding/trip to Orlando.

2) A doctor's note of my wife's pregnancy.

Should I send these two extra piece of evidence with the I-130, or is it not necessary until the interview?

Hi, i think it's a good idea to send both those documents you listed, in with the i-130 package. the pregnancy sure will show that you and your wife have bonafide marriage. send your marriage certificate as well. copies.

good luck!

Thank you!

I was hesitant about hiring a lawyer or not. The lawyer my parents hired was only going to charge me $750 for the K3 Visa process, and then another $750 for the Adjustment Status. I guess this is a good price compared to what people have told me (between $2500 and $10,000 ).

After visiting this site, reading the guides and some of the posts on the forum, I think I am confident that I can definitely do this on my own and save the extra money and use it for a whole bunch of other costs I am going to incur this year.
