Hello VJ Members

I'm filling I-864 form only for my mother, Me & my wife we both work & we filed joint tax since we married, now this year 2016 she only worked for 3 months & now she is house wife & I'm the only one has job (self employed 1099 no w2). now I'm really confused about these question

1) my current individual income is estimated? right (I'm making more than 125% of I-864P form poverty )

2) do I need to show my wife income (whatever she makes 6 months ago she is currently house wife $0) ???

3) if yes than she need to fill I-864A form right

if no than check no 17

(one or more people do not need to complete form coz he/she is intending immigrant & has no accompanying dependents)

4) For most recent three year income "means total joint income (husband wife) or only my income ???

thanks for replying, appreciated

When self-employed, they will look at your Total Income from your most recent return, which would be line 22 of a 1040 form. It is not an estimate.

Wife is unemployed, so she has no income to include, and therefore has no need to fill out an I-864A. Her past income will not be listed. She makes $0. She only needs to be counted in your household size in Part 5. She is not listed in Part 6 and you do not check box 16 or 17. She isn't the intending immigrant anyway, your mother is.

When you list the Total Income from your last 3 tax returns, you enter the amount exactly as it is on the return. If it is a joint return, then the Total Income will be both of your incomes combined, if you both had an income for those years. It is not asking for anyone's individual income there. You list your individual income where it asks in Part 6 #2.
