I tried to use the search function to find the answer to my question, but it's not working for me, so I am asking here. When my husband went to do his biometrics, he found that his DOB was incorrect. He pointed this out to the woman taking the prints that his DOB was wrong and was told to bring his birth certificate to the interview when we were scheduled. Okay. But his case was recently transferred to CSC, so we may not have an interview. Does anyone have any experience with this?? What is the best way to get this corrected???

Thanks for your help!!

If am in your shoes,I will explore all possible options to correct it.Since you said that your application have been transfered to the CSC,u will probably be getting your approval without an interview.I will have to write to the CSC notifying them of the mistake on my DOB.I will also include my case number and my birth certificate and may be my NOA1 for my application.I think they will correct that.I will also call them in like tow eeks after they must have received it to verify if it has been changed.Good luck.

To Blessed to be stressed:) I realize that all things have a purpose and a time.....have faith and the Lord Almighty will provide... when the time is right, he NEVER fails!

I don't have exactly the same situation but earlier this week I noticed on my NOA1s that my middle name was misspelled (for I-130 & 1_765). I scheduled an Infopass appointment for Monday 4/2/07 to get this fixed. I'll try to remember to ask whether they can also change an incorrect birthdate via an Infopass appt.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will try the infopass option.

This probably goes without saying, but you probably will want to bring just about every piece of evidence/ original documentation (birth certificate/ etc.) to show your correct birthday...

Good luck!

Ok – so the InforPass appt. was a bit of a waste of time. The agent, who was pretty snippy at 7:51am in the morning, instructed me to write to the Missouri Service Center to make the corrections. She instructed me to make copies of the NOAs and circle the incorrectly spelled name, as well as send proof of the correctly spelled name. She also said that “they are usually good about making corrections.”

I’m sending the above, as well as copies of my birth certificate, driver’s license and pages from our I-485, I-130 and I-765 applications that show my name *was* spelled correctly from the beginning.

Then, the agent seemed to soften a bit and said, “well, while you’re here, we might as well check your case status.” Of course she told me what I already knew – that my FBI name check had not happened yet since I have not had my Biometrics taken; that I had only filed in March and that the process usually took 6 months, yada yada, yada…”

So – if you haven’t had your InfoPass yet, you may want to just write to MSC (or wherever your case currently resides) and see about getting corrections that way. I’ll try to remember to update here if anything happens…

Amazing the different answers different service centers give. Another VJ member has a similar situation, in which the birthdate is incorrect on the immigration paperwork. It appears the officer at POE put it in wrong. She went for an info pass appt and they told her she will have to fix it with AOS, but that means in the meantime her SO can't get his SS# (they have already been told it can't be issued because of the the birthdate issue). Might writing to the MSC as suggested above help?

Thanks for sharing your experience! I guess we will try to contact CSC by mail. It was at the biometrics appt where we discovered the error on the DOB. Hopefully it's painless and they get it right after we bring it to their attention.

I just remmembered that we had this same problem during our initial application of the K1 in which the beneficiary's name was not correct.I mean they wrote a different beneficiary name when they sent us an RFE but we had to write them notifying them of the mistake.Just include copies of your NOAs together with a copy of your birth certificate and a cover letter in the form of an official letter explaining the mistake and requesting that it should be corrected. Also try and always call their customer serviice on phone.Trust me,its easy!!!

Ok, earlier this week I had sent MSC a letter requesting that the misspelling of my middle name be changed. MSC received the letter yesterday, and this morning I woke up to find touches on my I-130 & 1-765 (the ones with the misspelled middle name).

So - nothing presumably too exciting, except I hope that corrections will be made, and it is nice to have a touch after a week and a half of nothing.

My biometrics is tomorrow - so hopefully I'll see one way or another whether things have changed.

Just to update:

First of all thanks for all of the advice! We went ahead and wrote a letter to the Service Center and requested correction of the DOB. Included were a copy of the BC and translation, and the NOAs for everything including the transfer notice. Hopefully with all of this information, they can make this correction. We shall see!

wjinsf: good luck with the biometrics tomorrow, but more importantly I am hoping your correction is made as well!
