Return Ticket for Fiancee in order to get into the USA

The USCIS won't contact the airline. They will look at the I-94. Airlines are privately owned and CBP is not.

Better safe than sorry. Cancel the return ticket after the K1 arrives in the USA to save any possibility of hassle.

Sure, the solution is easy. I'm not recommending that anyone not cancel the unused portion of their trip.

But it seems the problem is an overzealous I-94 system. The airline itself would know the person did not board the flight. That's all I was hoping to clarify.

Perhaps? It is the I-94 travel history causing people problems. Not an airline manifest as was indicated in the post I responded to. It was the second time I had seen airline manifests mentioned, so I spoke up. Thanks for the links.

Did you explain that your fiancé has an immigrant visa in her passport? When you have an approved immigrant visa, you don't need a return ticket.

A K-1 is a nonimmigrant visa.

k-1 is not an immigrant visa, it has immigrant intent. There is a difference. Either way there is no return ticket required

Well the good news is that I bought a completely refundable one way return ticket. Once we get here at the end of the month I will get that refunded for the full price.

When you cancel the return portion, write down the name and location of the airline employee with whom you spoke, and the time and date. File this information in your important immigration files, so that you'll have it if problems arise during AOS.

I bought a return ticket to come over on my K1 Visa I saved nearly 400 pounds. Nobody said anything to me my port of entry was O hare Chicago. My ticket was non refundable. I was just happy to be with my Fiancé .

It really does not matter to the person or couple who is stuck fighting for their rights to stay in the US if the problem is with USCIS (I-94) or the airline manifest. The point is that there COULD and HAS been a problem for some people who have not cancelled a return ticket. Just cancel the unused portion if you buy a round trip ticket, start gathering your evidence for AOS and move on with your lives!
