What is the average wait for an NOA2?

Our I-130 has a PD date of June 20 2019 from CA service center

I-130 is for adult unmarried child, petitioner is a LPR

Petitioner signed up for a USCIS online account to track status, but still no word since NOA1 in June

If we wanted to make an inquiry, about the case, where do we start?

You start here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ and come to find out that case inquiry for Permanent resident filing for an unmarried son or daughter over 21 can be made for petitions that have been filed before or on June 22, 2014.

Long wait ahead :(

Are you talking about the NOA2?

I realize it is years away for F2B to get to the interview stage/visa stage, was just wondering when the NOA2 happens.

If you tag or quote a poster that you're addressing, it will help them to know that you replied :)

I'm talking about NOA2 aka approval of the petition, yes. Did you check the link I posted? It refers to processing times for the I-130.

Only when the petition has been approved, visa bulletin and NVC stage come into play.

Hope this helps.

Hey all,

I hope you're well!

Just got a mail saying that they completed preliminary review and our case has been transferred to PSC. From reading the forums and googling, this seems normal procedure, but the only thing worries me is that PSC has 21-28 months processing times, which is now longer than our wait time and the current processing times of CSC

Any recent guesses on why this may be happening? Getting really scary.

Best

I see that some posters have had their I-130 approved (NOA2) in 4-6 mos

Yes - I-130s exist for many different categories with many different levels of priority. Each Service Center posts their average processing time for each of the different I-130 categories. Did you check out the link I posted for you? It shows the date for case inquiry for each of the Centers for each category. It looks like Texas is the only service center working on 2019 filed petitions for your category - but this can also simply mean that Texas doesn't work on these cases (have seen this for F2A for instance as well).

Sorry the link is a little confusing, I do not see an NOA1-NOA2 timeline, just earliest date you can inquire about a case and estimated completion dates of the visa process.

estimated completion dates are what it says - estimated completion date for your I-130 (when it states for instance 12-16 months, then 12-16 months is the average wait time from filing to approval of I-130), meaning the time it takes from NOA1 until NOA2.

The Priority date on your NOA1 is the date that determines wether you are eligible to make a case inquiry about a case that's out of normal processing time. Meaning if e.g. your priority date is 04/01/2019 and date for case inquiry is 04/02/2019 then you can inquire why your case is taking longer. If your PD is a later date than indicated for your specific case type, then you are considered within normal processing time and cannot inquire.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for explaining that, I think I get it now.
