There's nothing you can do but wait. My PD is October 6, 2017 and it's still not approved. I think they are currently working on July/August 2017.

He will apply in October of this year. But it will take another year and a half to get the passport. Will the case be upgraded if we email them telling them that he is applying and showing them it is under process? Or do i have to wait for his passport in hand?

your case will only be upgraded when he becomes a citizen and you inform USCIS to update your petition with the information.

It will take time. You stand a better chance of your case being completed faster in the current category. He should have done that first and in the interim petition for you. I guess, all you can do now is just wait the time and pray for speedy processing. Unfortunately your case is with the slowest service centre. just keep praying...

HI All, since the final action date chart for F2A is current on july visa bulletin, what does that mean?

 

Does it mean people outside the us can apply for greencard without I130 being approved?

This question if for a friend whose I130 is pending in California and his wife is not in USA. Can she apply for green card now ?Can someone explain how this works?

No. The case has to be approved first. Once you get the approval you can file AOS
