Well, you are not wrong about assuming your I-130 should be approved soon , it’s just after it’s approved you have to apply for AOS anyways if willing to go through this process inside the US . Yes, you have to attach Medical exam form ( I-693) , it’s now valid for 2 years . Also, don’t forget to apply for I-131 and I-765 ( advance parole and work permit ) at the same time with I-485. Don’t forget to attach I-864 ( affidavit of support). The timeframe for processing your I-485 would depend on your location - you can check it online . I’m located in Orlando , my I-130 PD is July 3d , 2017, applied for AOS in July of 2018, for my location it’s takes around 18-20 months to get approved . Work permit and travel document I received in October of 2018 (3 months after I filled the AOS application).

I changed my address on December 3rd. And I was notified it was changed. Since I don’t see any update online on my case, I assume it’s not approved yet. Also, how do I know which location should I send the AOS to? I am planning to apply for both EAD and parole as you mentioned. Is there any risk if travel on the AP? Thank you for your help.

Priority date: July 18, 2017

nothing here as well. If it continues with the same pace, we might receive an answer around April.

@CrystalN I was thinking the same thing. If you hear anything, will you let me know please? I would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

If you received the notification about address change , then you should be fine . You would most likely send your AOS package to the Chicago lockbox https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

After it’s accepted by them, they gonna issue request for biometrics collection after approx 3-4 weeks , and then your case will be transferred to your local USCIS office based on your zip code . Like if you live in Maiami , your field office is Miami and so on . You can lookup the closest field office by your zip code and based on that you can check the processing time for I-485 for your location here https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

and yes , it is safe travel with AP , unless you had unlawful presence at some point . Also note , you’ll be required to use AP to travel , your F1 visa is no longer good for entrance after you claimed your immigration intense .

Hi @KatenkaMishka

You mentioned that you got your Work Permit and travel document in October 2018.I understand that you applied for AOS when the filing date became current for your PD.Did your i-130 got approved by the time when your work permit got approved or you are still waiting for i-130?

Still waiting on I-130 approval , regardless of having work permit and advance parole

So can you work using GC work permit.?

Also i have another question.

I-130 processing time is 19-25 months currently for CSC.Does the i-485 processing time come with in that time frame or is it again another 10+ months after 130 approval or from date of filing(when the filing date becomes current). If we consider it separately it will be like 30+ months then.I dunno i am bit confused.

Yes, of course you can work . I-485 timeframe has nothing to do with I-130 approval , I mean once you apply for AOS, that’s where your main process starts (your 10 months or whatever the wait time is for your field offcie ) if your AOS interview gets scheduled earlier than I-130 is approved , they will just pull it up and approve he whole case at the interview and that’s it. That’s the main difference between process for spouses of LPR and USC - in first case , you have to wait until your PD becomes current in order to submit I-485, while spouses of USC file I-130 and I-485 concurrently.

I don't think I can, if I remember you have to answer a couple of questions and then you'll have to wait for the admin or someone to accept. But I don't think I can add you.
